Not a gamble that I would be willing to risk. If I have a gun pointed at me, chances are I would just give up everything in my pockets and hope he went away.

Another robbery that happened in the Quarter

and in broad daylight...wtf?

One thing for sure is that everyone needs to upgrade on their surveillance cameras in the quarter.

Quite the overreaction. Just like any other urban city, know where is safe, know where isn't,and maybe don't walk around by yourself at 4:30 in the morning (I assume the victim was drunk, but don't know for sure, so I won't comment on that).

I've been going to the Quarter for years, and been out well past 2AM on many occasions. Following some common sense rules has kept me from dealing with this type of situation.

They wouldn't target someone like me to begin with.

The guy could have ran. They won't shoot you because you ran away from their robbery attempt. They are dumb but not that dumb. Not with cars passing by like that .

They shoot people over beefs. Turf wars, drugs, fights. Etc

was it Halloween when all of those shootings occurred in one night

cops were right there, these people don't give a frick. I was held up right at st. Louis and rampart. My employer wouldn't let me bring my gun with me...he did afterwards

Pretty easy to say that when the gun isn't aimed at you. But I'm sure you're a legit tough guy.

are there any cops in the french quarter, ever?

Usually only on Bourbon leaning against a barricade hitting on drunk women, though I think they have some state troopers who walk around a bit now.

That fat fricking whore just standing around sipping her drink while that is going on

Someone needs to set these dudes up with a CC or a cop who is packing and then blast them.

past midnight, those streets past bourbon towards rampart are all shady as frick and they will most certainly rob you. I've been followed multiple times, I've only been had once.

nothing about being a tough guy. Just use common sense. If they intend to use a gun you don't need 4 guys to rob you and 2 more fat bitches to look out

How many times does this happen on a given weekend? And out of how many opportunities to do so?

This is a statistically small event that using some common sense will help anyone avoid. I grew up in NOLA, and I don't know anyone that has been robbed at gun point after a night in the Quarter. There's no need to write off the whole place.

Common sense says running when someone puts a gun in your back is a bad idea.

No holes in this logic at all.

I know what you mean. You have to be on full alert when you hit the side streets. I've walked to my condo many nights looking behind my back. You just have to be prepared
