None of those areas are places you should feel safe. If it's anywhere uptown, it's only a few blocks from miscreants.

They have all kings of breakdown maps out there. So on the one you showed you just disregard the Carrollton designation? Which would mean you disregard the Garden District also. Whatever floats your boat.

Carrolton and the Garden District are neighborhoods that are uptown.

The French Quarter, the CBD and the Warehouse District are neighborhoods that are downtown.

What are you not gettting?

Find me one breakdown map that says that Carrollton and the Garden District aren't uptown...

Ponchartrain Expressway separates Uptown From Downtown.
The interstate separated the other neighborhoods.
Mid City circled by the interstate, with Lakeview and Gentilly on the outside.

Uptown is an area, Broadmoor and Hollygrove are neighborhoods.

What about a federal designation to disagree with your map?

I tell you what you do. Put a listing for an apt. for rent in Uptown NOLA for 750$, leave your number and when they call tell them an address on Eagle St. Let me know what the callers decide is Uptown.

It is Uptown. It's Uptown.

It's not the "uptown" you think of but it's "uptown"

even has the same zip code

&750 would be a deal for Eagle near Oak st?

Eagle is the one with the tracks that run down the whole length right?

shite that area is gentrifying fast. Most people moving into the grove are white.

FWIW.

Description of Tulane student being robbed.

quote:

The suspect is described as a “male, 20 years old, 5’10”, 165 lbs., bald head, long sleeved sweater style shirt, blue jeans. No further description. Suspect was armed with a black handgun,” the report states.

So helpful.

At least we got bald I guess

I get what your getting at.

I had a guy call me the other day and ask for a late job. I asked "where?" and he said "downtown". I already had a 5:30 at a condo I do appliances for so I added him in.
I got the address and didn't check it right away.

O' Reilly Street, near Galvez. Technically downtown, but really in the area of the 7th ward called "the killing fields" so of course I called him back and cancelled. There are a few places in this city I won't go after 6pm and that's one.

"Uptown" though is the third largest area of the city after The East and Algiers.

The East. Rents going up and locals can't afford it.

Yes they are. Drive between Jefferson Avenue/Napoleon Avenue/Freret Street and Claiborne Avenue. What is going on there was unthinkable before Katrina.

So of these 4 - one was at Claiborne and milk, one was the mag mart on airline and one was made up...

So penistons really the only one that happened in an area that most would picture as uptown? Good thread.

Valence was one of the worst streets between Freret and where it ends a few blocks towards Claiborne from Freret. That whole area has multiple houses on almost every block being re-done and a lot already finished.

That area was a little warzone, very close to where I grew up. Now, BOOMING... It is a classic case of re-gentrification. A lot like Anacosta in DC.
