People have cosmetic procedures done all the time. When they're safe, they're worth doing.

The joke is on you.

You offer no validation to not doing it other than screaming religious mutilation, when proof has been provided on the many benefits of having it done.

Good day, idiot.

Not usually when they are a week old.

And I don't have a son. My circumsized penis only makes girls.

Dicks and balls are pretty ugly. No need to keep them even uglier by leaving foreskin attached.

nevermind it had no redeeming medical benefit until people started opening their eyes and questioning why we blindly allow our jewish overlords to dictate what we do to our newborn sons and studies were made to quickly prop up the reasons and throw people a bone so they can say 'whew, glad its medically justified after all'.

AAP, and most of their statement is to appease folks like you who are strongly opposed to it. It won't directly cause negative consequences to a person, but lack of circumcision offers pretty much no medical benefit.

eta one thing i've learned about 99% of the US..dont DARE ask them to do a little soul-searching about their own coveted penises. might raise uncomfortable questions they aren't prepared to think about.

Bad analogy. A tattoo on the leg might be a better one. Like circumcision, done properly it isn't disfiguring or damaging, and has the purpose of identifying cultural affinity with minor discomfort that is largely forgotten.

Like a tattoo, it can be (and *very* occasionally is) botched. But we're talking about very very slim odds here, there are more important things to worry about either way, such as vaccinations.

all body parts are not created equal?

a tattoo doesn't remove part of your skin.

Circumcision doesn't remove a part that serves much of a purpose. Some claim that it reduces sexual pleasure but last time I checked Muslims and Jews (and most Christians too) have no problem being fruitful and multiplying. If it were that bad then women on college campuses would not get chased so avidly by men who for the most part in this country are circumcised. They don't seem to have any problems with libido.
