56% of school age girls vaccinated against HPV in 2014.

34% of boys.

That's not good enough, and until it improves, there is plenty of medical evidence that backs circumcision as a preventative measure.

why not just cut off his pinkies and earlobes at the same time?

he won't miss those either and he'll remember nothing

Well it didn't take long for someone to bring irrational thought into the room.

Probably because those body parts don't receive the benefit of reduced STD transmission in addition to having their own, unique type of cancer that is prevented with a simple, safe, and effective procedure.

seriously?

Ater a comprehensive review of the scientific evidence, the American Academy of Pediatrics found the health benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks, but the benefits are not great enough to recommend universal newborn circumcision. The AAP policy statement published Monday, August 27, says the final decision should still be left to parents to make in the context of their religious, ethical and cultural beliefs.

which of these 3 beliefs has anything to do with science again?

religious, ethical and cultural beliefs.

nah, i'm used to going it alone.

people don't like to have their penises called into question.

this is about INFORMATION so future parents don't make the same mistakes.

every time i pop up in one of these threads the ignorance about the how/why of circumcision is astounding.

i think the OT would be happier with not hearing their precious snipping procedure is nothing but a religious hoax.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Since you're posting the aap, can I assume you agree with them in saying

quote:

health benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks,

B/c it's pretty clearly stated. Saying they wouldn't make a universal recommendation doesn't discount that fact.

The American Academy of Pediatrics believes that circumcision has potential medical benefits and advantages, as well as risks. Evaluation of current evidence indicates that the health benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks and that the procedure's benefits justify access to this procedure for families who choose it,

Good enough for me to recommend and perform it without pushing people to do it. Great job on picking and choosing, from your own link mind you, half of the facts.

you know where those studies took place?

do you?

ok, i'll tell you:

quote:

Many studies on the benefits of circumcision have been performed in Africa, where, because of the prevalence of HIV and other STDs, the effect can be seen more quickly.

I'd say men who were circumcised themselves are capable of determining whether or not it is a good idea.

That's right. Parents everywhere, if you want bad information, get it from CAD703X on a web forum. A poster who is either incapable of reading an entire recommendation from the AAP or is lacking the word "justified" from his vocabulary.
