Well their planes don't crash....so they have that going for them.

United and US Airways are fricking terrible. I hate that airline with every atom of my being.

I've been a frequent Continental/United traveler for years and I think I'm done with them. Service levels have steadily declined over the last year and they've lost or delayed my bags 6 times in the last 3 months, which is ridiculous. (They are rolling out outsourcing of baggage services)

I'm going to status match on Delta and take a few flights for comparison.

depends on what you would rather, the most direct flights out of Houston to the most cities or a better class of airplanes like Delta but with layovers everywhere.........pick your poison.

I fly United every week because they have direct flights to the location I am working in and no other airline offers that.

I have flown international business class on United, Delta, and US Airways and they are all about the same.

Depends where you are flying....but all the big US based airlines are pretty average.

I used to fly Northwest to Asia all the time, and loved them, but then Delta took over and it was not the same.

As for United, I am Global Services, so i get treated very very well, so I am loyal.

If I was a young man again, I would fly whatever is cheapest.

If you're a United frequent flyer on a real United flight, expect to be treated OK. Getting free premium coach seats with extra legroom, free priority bags, etc., makes the trip a lot easier.

If you're *not* a United frequent flyer but are flying on a real United jet, expect the service to worse than (say) Southwest, but far from the worst available.

If you're flying a United Express partner airline (that sells "United" tickets and flies planes with United livery but is really Mesa Airlines, Express Jet, or one of eight others) expect a long day in hell with very low odds of arriving within 12 hours of your scheduled time.

They stranded me at Reagan International overnight for the cheapest.

Since when has Southwest had bad service? They have one of the best customer service ratings for years

They are awful. Continental was far superior. My last three trips:

14 hour delay in the airport (eventually cancelled flight altogether - got home a day late)

3.5 hour delay on return

5.5 hour delay on return

I fly United pretty frequently because I travel from Chicago to Newark/NYC quite a bit. Can't say I've personally had any trouble with delays, poor customer service, etc.

That being said, I've been more impressed with Delta.

Thanks Obama. Gotta help out his Chicago buddies and stick it to Republican Texas.

Jetblu is the best domestic carrier by far IMO. American then delta next. Spirit is the worst and it's not close.

I like Jet Blue but Virgin is better - but neither fly where I typically go so I stick with Delta who I think is the best of the 3 majors.

Depends on who you have status with. AA has been pretty good to me since I hit the measly gold

Question about delta for you: have a reservation for 3 people in my office on the 4th of july, flights changed on the way back from yqb-jfk-atl-btr. Now they've got a 38 min international-domestic connection in JFK which I know they won't make. You think 2 hr 52 min is enough for immigration/customs at JFK and to make their way by cab over to LGA? Otherwise they have 6 hours in JFK. Figured you, golfer or another DL elite would know best.

I would be inclined to say no but I have no idea about the cabbing part. I just wouldn't think it's that easy to get between the two during the day but like I said before I have no clue

Alright, well I'll continue to look for options. Also I'll be on the lookout for mileage runs, think DL and AA are posting a bunch of good fares from each others hubs. Thanks

If they can get Global Entry I'd put out that idea to them.

Not sure if your guests are Canadian or whatever though, just throwing it out there if they aren't.

And I've never had a problem with United but I don't fly 100 times a year nor do I check baggage. Their mileage program can be very generous.

They did save the day for me to get from IAD to Frankfurt though when Lufthansa cancelled 4 hours before departure, so the tally is 1 - 0 on the benefit/frick up chart.

What's your experience with United/Houston?

Horrible service. I've flown on a lot of airlines and I'd rank them near the bottom, if not dead last.
