Did she use her Uber app to request the ride? If so, how does she have any choice in how she pays? It should go direct to her credit card. My guess is this isn't the first time he's given her a ride.

The driver can cancel a trip on the spot if necessary, and the rider is not charged unless he/she has to wait on a rider for 5 or more minutes.
