Wow. This is awesome news.

BTW, I love how it didn't even make it to the Advocate. That's laughable. I'm setting my local BR news bookmark to nola.com.

What I can't stand about her is that she insists that her name is pronounced "Tarr-uh". frick that. It's "Tear-uh", you idiot. You want it pronounced the other way? Add a second R to it.

And on Uber getting passed. I'll probably only use it once a year (post Christmas party), but this is a huge step in the right direction for a city so terribly lacking in means of public transit.

How do they monitor and police that?
user ratings and feedback

I always complain if there is an issue and I always praise when I receive great service

Uber does everything to make sure you enjoy the experience and stay loyal.

You think a driver took a slower route, email uber and they'll credit your account

It's awesome

BRPD really voted against Uber? Shows how they really don't give a flying frick about protecting and serving. All about that DUI revenue. frick them.

Waiting 45 minutes to catch a taxi in Tigerland was fricking awful

I never had one actually show up. My GF in college posted a "designated driver wanted" ad in the Reveille and found a girl who would always come drive her home for $20.

This will be GREAT for Baton Rouge. DUIs will plummet once everyone catches on and the bars/restaurants will see more business.

I take Lyft or Uber at least 3 or 4 times a week.

So is there a money-making opportunity to be had for someone who just likes to drive?

Absolutely. I know a couple people that do it on weekends to supplement their income.

go out to the bars with 5 friends, each download the uber app.

order the black SUV and use the split fare option, it will split it evenly among everyone and an expensive trip becomes cheap and safe

BRPD doesn't get a vote at council meetings, but the general feeling is that they were against it since it's bad for their business. But this part's true...

It was a real tossup on how the city would rule on this. That DWI money is clearly more of a revenue chunk than in the interest of public safety. If we go to the Bulldog and have some drinks after work, how many beers does it take to get you to .08? 3 pints of anything and you're knocking on the door. The fact that half the nightime driving public are basically rolling cash machines for the city really sucks a lot of interest in me going to meet anybody anywhere.

This is a terrific development. I'm stoked. Welcome Uber.

could put a small dent in game day traffic if people use it for drop off and pick up.

Glad our council did the right thing
