Traveling to and from MD Anderson

Expecting numerous trips to MD Andrrson soon. Would rather fly than drive if possible. Which airport should we use in Houston and does the metro travel to and from airport and hospital directly?

I've asked around and looked on Internet, but I'm getting contradicting answers. I'm noticing some people give advice that really don't have a clue.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I know Hobby is closer, but I'm not sure you could get a direct flight?

Hobby is Southwest's hub in Houston. You can fly direct from NOLA no problem.

Hobby is definitely closer. Here is something I found on MD Anderson's site about getting back and forth.

Where would the airport be that you will flying out of be located?

Where are you coming from? Hobby is closer but it is mostly SWA.

And no, the metro rail does not connect Hobby (or Bush) to the Med Center. The metro rail does run through the med center, but not to Hobby.

I flew from BHM to Hobby when we had to do that trip. We were able to get a shuttle from the airport to the hotel which was within walking distance to MD anderson (but also had constant shuttles running through the medical buildings). I don't think the metro ran all the way to the airport (I never used it) but there was a stop very close to MD Anderson because I remember always getting stopped on our shuttle heading back to the hotel.

Driving isn't bad, it's easy to get to (depending on rush hour), and they have a very efficient valet parking system. You literally drop the patient off at the front door. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Southwest from NOLA to Hobby. Hobby is the tits.

From the Hobby website:

Public Bus Service - Houston METRO

Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) Website

The Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) offers bus service available at Curbzone 13 outside of the baggage claim area in the lower level.

Visit the Houston METRO website for specific route and schedule information.

You can get a great hotel and a very low rate (comparatively speaking) from The Rotary House. Call them to get the details as I think you need a MD Anderson patient number to stay there. Good Luck.. Google below for more information

best of luck with this, two things I would look into is contacting someone in sales at SW, explain your situation and see if they will work out some sort of discounted plan, they're pretty philanthropic over there, wouldn't hurt to ask, also there is an organization of business aircraft owners that donate time on their planes for this type of situation, I'll try to find some sites and get back
