Travel ball makes me respect these kids in Williamsport way more.

Those kids are 12 years old and playing on 60 foot bases and cannot even lead off or steal. That’s almost 8U coaches pitch field/rules.

Can’t speak for others, but my Supervisor always allowed me the time off. Not for travel ball but for Dixie Youth. I guess because it was a smaller town and when we won District or State, they were pretty pumped about it

I was fortunate in that respect.

Those boys dropped by our tailgate that Home Game day when LSU honored them in Tiger Stadium. Was pretty damned cool.

Damn, did they sign for you guys?

The people that push their kids to travel ball are more than likely failed sad faux Alphas trying to live vicariously through their sons.

They hate to be reminded of their shitty hourly jobs is my takeaway.

Those people are faux alphas who have faux alpha sons whose athletic ability peaks at 12 years old.

Truth really hurts

I dont encourage or discourage my kids from playing. I dont care either way, but I wont discourage them to appease the soft losers like you.

The "crazy travel ball people" is like 1% and a narrative for parents of kids that are unathletic.

I played division 1 college athletics, as did my wife, so your theory of vicariously living through my kids is hilariously wrong, but keep pushing this narrative because you spawned losers.

Im also self employed and work whenever the frick I want, so swing and a miss on that one too. Seems to be a common theme for your family....

Teaching their kids to worship tin rings. How noble.

This board’s obsession with travel ball is weird and the jokes are played out. I know that’s gonna hurt your egos but it’s the truth. And on top of that, it’s kind of strange for you to be so worried about what another person is doing with their free time with their families

It is funny for a joke here and there but the obsession and constant making fun of the kids is sad.

I feel like if you're going to participate in travel ball, you need to sign a waiver acknowledging your kid isn't a professional athlete or nearly talented as you think he/she is. They're averagely gifted.

I think the root of people laughing at travel ball is the parents, not the kids. The parent's think their kid has "potential", when reality they're average white kids playing a sport.

Hypercompetitive, loser parents are the reason for the ridicule. Not the kids

I think the problem with some, not all, travel ball types is that it isn’t healthy to constantly make your kids the center of attention. They aren’t the center of the universe, and when they grow up they will expect the world to cater to their every whim

As usual you pop up in threads not knowing wtf you are talking about

By potential do you mean potential to play and start in HS? Because if you don't play travel at a high level you aren't doing that for the good bigger schools like barbe, st louis, sulphur, Sam Houston, stm, TC, catholic, WM, or any of the catholic league schools.

If I'm not mistaken you don't even have kids that play sports like most of the dumbasses that come on complaining about travel ball.

I mean seriously wtf do you or the others without kids that play at all even know about it? Wtf do you even know about what potential is?

Go ahead and tell us

And got to love the OP, ragging on lids for making it to the llws or being selected for select fest as that's the only tournaments going on right now and both are once in a lifetime experience.

Lol spoken like somebody that has never had a great job.

I have a great jib, amazing really, and guess what if I died tomorrow they would replace me and move on. Does your job need to be a priorty...yes, but you don't miss out on vacations or not take vacation time to watch your child play to prioritize your job, that's shitty parenting.

And if you get 4 weeks of vacation time, plus floating holidays, plus Fridays off....wtf else is someone gonna spend vacation on?

I mean shite I have taken three vacations this year, have 2 in travel and another in other sports and I still have vacation left.

I can’t say for baseball, but I was on a few travel teams for soccer and for all those coaches, coaching was their job. Most coached a few teams in different age brackets for the organization and also coached high schools in town

Think again dipshit. I am a retired Marine with a pension and 100% VA disability along with being a sales engineer with a national company and about to retire a second time. Sorry, I value my employment but I also manage all of that, umpiring and coaching travel ball quite well.
