Is it much bigger than a Ram or F150? They're all big.
I don't know about the RAM , haven't really seen any of the newer ones, but I have a buddy who just bought a Tundra 4 door and the damn thing is almost as big as my 2017 F 250 four door. It's HUGE for a half ton truck.

Good info about how much room the Tacoma has...it would be helpful if you let us know how many kids you have.
shite I did not proof that

Does the Tundra even have a 6' bed option? It's funny to hear truck guys talk about how much room they need but don't talk about bed space. Get a Sienna if you need to haul kids around.

Double cab does. Crew max doesn't.

Tacoma is a more practical daily driver - easier to park. It's also the better off-road choice (if you're going 4wd).
But, if a pavement cruiser is what you want, Tundra is awesome. I'm doing a similar back and forth myself. I'm slightly leaning towards Tacoma if I buy in the next 6 to 10 months, but the test drive is probably going to break the tie at the moment of decision.

I can confirm this. I've been in half dozen recent vintage (2014 and newer) - the back seat is as big or bigger as any half ton you'll find and probably as big as most 3/4 ton backseats.

Why does the Tundra have 5 lug wheels and the smaller Tacoma have 6 lug wheels?
Just curious.

F150 Supercrew has more space in the back seat by just about any measure, and it's been that way since 2009.

Not really sure why people equate the heavy duty trucks with having bigger interiors. F150 and F250 have equal sized rear seats this year.
Tundra Crew Max is almost an inch and a half less leg room and over 4 inches less hip room in the rear seats compared to the Ford Supercrew trucks FWIW.

Fair enough - and I haven't been in as many American 1/2 ton over the past 4 or 5 years. The half-ton Ram crew has a pretty generous backseat and the Tundra is comparable or bigger.
Feels bigger, anyway. I know, TWSS.

Ram has almost 3 inches more hip room, but 2 inches less legroom.
Ford has dominated the rear seat comfort stats for a long time. Not really sure why Tundra gets the reputation it does, but in almost every thread like this, everyone swears the Tundra has some cavernous backseat.

Most people are buying trucks as a SUV with a small bed, not for work anymore.

Maybe the space is laid out better? Seriously - I'm not sure. I've never been in a F-150 backseat and said, "Wow - this is the biggest truck backseat I've ever seen." I've done that with a Ram 1500 and Tundra.
Again

I've got a 2014 Crewmax and I love the space. It's way bigger than what I need day to day, but we use it for trips and such. The fact that my 6'5" FiL can sit in the back comfortably is another big plus.
My dad had multiple Tacomi when I was growing up, and they were great trucks. IMHO it just boils down to preference.

I don't see how that's possible. It was instantly noticeable to me when I test drove all the current (at the time) full size offerings a few years ago.
ETA: And I'm not just hating on Toyotas before that gets thrown out. Tundras do a lot of things well, Tacomas are the best of their class, and I have a Toyota in my garage currently.

Land Cruiser is all you need.

Most of my friends used to have tacos. They have all moved on to tundras and love them. Hope that helps.

I have a 2015 four-door Tacoma TRD Sport. Love it. However, I agree with others that if you have kids or something that requires extra cab space, look at the Tundra. My Dad has a 2013 Tundra double cab and it provides a lot of space, and it's not even the biggest cab option.

Son went of to college this fall, just bought him a 2012 4x4 Tacoma with 40K on it. Damn nice little truck. I think if you're debating between a full size and a small truck, you probably don't need the full size, or at least not very often.
Posted on 9/5/17 at 2:23 pm to Bigryno7
No reason to not go full size with what the midsize trucks cost. I like the idea of a Tacoma, but the comfort is terrible. Recently sold my Tundra for. Silverado Z71. Ride quality and gas mileage made the move worth it. Silverado does have less space for the backseat though. The Tundra will probably last forever, but has some catching up to do with the rest of the 2017 trucks.
