I know it's definitely still around, I just never was able to pinpoint it where I frequently visit in Vizzini.

My uncle was involved in the late 80's. It's way too long of a story for one post, but he pretty much was the link between the base exchanges electronic department and the mafia. I'm not gonna say how, but he was making a hefty profit on a lot of name brand shite that the Sicilian's couldn't afford to import. He has all sorts of stories of the open tabs he had at every disco around Comiso.

I think that's why my mom never worried about me growing up. There was no way I could have been involved in half the shite my uncle was from 16-24.

This is the monthly mafia thread where we find out most OTers have had run ins with the mafia, and most know a Marcello.

Does the mafia in NOLA still exist
Try to open up your own landfill and procure waste pickup contracts in NOLA and report back with your findings.

ETA: Garland will freely take a loan from ANYONE.
That part of the equation is clean.

The Dixie Mafia runs the city Post-K. They do the razzle dazzle and gambling. The heroin infestation comes from Arabs supplying the opiates to manufacture the drugs then pedaling them via mostly black street hustlers at corner stores region-wide.

There is no better OT thread to read while pooping than a good mafia thread.

This one wasn't so bad.... Some threads they come out the woodworks and everyone knows someone that knows someone that knows someone that is connected.

Kind of like the Navy Seal threads.

My only first hand experience with the mafia was that my son's godfather lives in Chicago and is half Italian. Once his uncle from the Italian side got raided by the FBI for illegal bookmaking.

Also he had a friend whose dad owned a bunch of laundry mats and car washes and quite a collection of guns.

A friend of mine's grandfather has rumors of being associated with a certain Italian-American subculture... but a cajun version.

I get what you and others are saying.

But consider that the mafia (or whatever we should call them) have tentacles that have such a penetration into some areas that truly a lot of people can easily be one or two degrees of separation from them.

I have a second cousin who ran used car lots for Carlos. I only met him 3 or 4 times, and only at family funerals or 50th wedding anniversary parties. Old people shite, ya know. He was way older than me and my dad, and died of natural causes about 10 yrs ago. He was an entertaining wise guy for sure. A greaser with a pencil thin mustache. But I never really new him outside of those family events. I only know what my dad would speak about, and those stories were entertaining.

Yeah I am disappoint with this one. We'll try again in a couple weeks.
Nothing was awesomer than the dad thread a few weeks ago where we learned that most OTers have dads who are ninjas and super soldiers.

This is the first mafia thread I've read. I found it to be very interesting, will definitely be on the look out for more.
