Not that this has any bearing on guilt or innocence, but:

quote:

Mayor Watts presented plaques, with a key to the City of Central, to Jonathon Dixon, Chase Huval, and Patrick Wenneman for their heroic efforts in rescuing Stacy Massey from her wrecked and burning vehicle on Magnolia Bridge Road.

Holy crap I know that guy!

He's a pretty laid back guy actually.

Further leading me to believe brpd made a mistake.

Chase is fricking top notch, has done more for this society than 99% of other officers. Active in grant a wish to sick kids, Christmas for the poor, won more awards than I can recall. Got a key to Baton Rouge for saving a man in a burning car while getting hurt himself. Gotta be more to this story. Hopefully there is a video.

I can vouch for this. Good guy and his brother, Blake is a damn good kid also. He did some landscaping jobs for me. Always respectable, yes sir no sir type of kid.

Deserved to be tazed. Off duty cops are civilians (or supposed to be). Don't act like a hard arse...

My point was that the trooper was released with a summons to appear, while his non-cop brother was arrested.

A summons is an arrest!

It is not a physical arrest but it is still logged as an arrest in this state.

What % of time does an officer get to the point of tasing someone and that person doesn't end up going to jail?

Almost never. A summons may be issued for certain misdemeanors when the officer believes the subject is not a flight risk and will appear in court. Obviously they felt confident he was not a flight risk.

It would be a great option. "I'm going to take you in for public intox... Or you can let me hit you with this Taser. Your choice."
