Reminds me of that Du Pont guy who was convicted of raping his 4 year old and got no prison time because he "wouldn't do well in jail"

Quick check shows that in Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. one can be fined, imprisoned and publicly flogged for DWI, especially if it causes an accident.
China has the death penalty in certain circumstances, and some small towns in Turkey drop the offender 20 miles out of town and force him to walk back to the police station.

I would be curious to see how much this guy is donating to the campaigns of the local judges

you should be in jail for life after the 3rd or 4th dui ... def after the 7th ...
MADD in the building y'all!
You realize how expensive that would be for taxpayers? And how ridiculous it sounds to jail someone for life for that?
Just take away their license for life and give them 10,000 hours of community service or some shite. That way everyone wins.

DWI outcomes are a joke anyway. Sure people get arrested but other than paying some money, that's about all that come out of it.
This. My son got a DUI. There is nothing on his record to indicate the arrest. While I'm happy for him it's still bullshite.

How many times does the lack of a license stop a drunk from getting behind the wheel? How about instead of putting people in prison for having a little pot, we instead save those cells for habitual drunk drivers?

who was his attorney for future reference?

Our country has too many people in the prison system. It is a MASSIVE drain on our economy for a multitude of reasons.
1st offense, 360 days no license and 100 hours of community service.
2nd offense, 2 years no license and 400 hours of community service.
3rd offense, 20 days in jail, permanent license removal and 1,000 hours of community service.
Of course if you get caught driving drunk without a license, you should go to jail for 30+ days and then another 2,000 hours of community service.
Under no circumstance where no one was injured should a drunk driver go to jail for life. That is just ridiculous.

I would like to add that a 7th offense is outrageous and deserves jail time. But a life sentence?
You want to give him a longer sentence than child molesters, rapists, and some murderers?
Give this rich white guy 2 years in a federal pen, and he won't do this again.
ETA:
Did he still have a license? If so, how is that possible?

I'll bet all the people who've had to bury their wife, husbands, kids, etc. would beg to differ on the ridiculousness of locking up habitual drunk drivers. I personally know of at least one father & 2 kids who lost their mother to a drunk driver who was already on his 3rd or 4th strike.

We live in a society where people aren't held accountable for their actions and it's getting worse.
