Anywhere south of the Rio Grande (Mexican or otherwise) is fine with me. They work 2-3 shifts *and* send money back home.

Oh wait, that can't be right because everyone know there aren't any jobs in America that pay a "living wage".

Join the military and I'd let them right in.

Well duh, obviously I am also in favor of this

But I am adamantly opposed to rewarding criminal activity. Amnesty for illegal aliens is like letting a bank robber keep the money because he worked so hard planning the heist

But the bank robber is a nice guy only trying to feed his family.

Mexicans come from a society where either you work or you starve to death.

Get them rooted here, and that will quickly fade away
(like an earlier poster pointed out, what a generation or two).

Then we will need more "Mexicans." These are all symptoms of the same problems that caused poor whites and blacks to stop working and go on dope -- American welfare

Exactly.

I only hire illegal Mexicans. The legal ones have become too complacent. If you're a citizen, I don't want you.

It's not just mexicans, I can't imagine moving to a country, and trying to get a job working with the public and not knowing the language.

Language requirements should be a must, not only to be productive..but for the safety of the individual. If they needed help and could not communicate and relay that..

few years back..Off Franklin ave, that gas station across the street from the McDonald's, there was a Chinese man working the register and pumps and could not communicate. (I take it he was working there and not just happening to rob it as I was getting gas) but he couldn't give correct change or much of anything else. I don't see how this is productive or helpful to any involved when he has to communicate and interact with the public.

Really? Please copy my quotes in this thread that even imply such a thing.

BTW, your magic word has no affect on me.

Okay? Those people should be dealt with too.

BTW, 'Mexican' isn't a race. Neither is 'illegal immigrant.' Canadians here illegally should be kicked out also.

Mariano-Robert Earl Keen Jr.

quote:

The man outside he works for me, his name is Mariano
He cuts and trims the grass for me he makes the flowers bloom
He says that he comes from a place not far from Guanajuato
Thats two days on a bus from here, a lifetime from this room.

I fix his meals and talk to him in my old broken spanish
He points at things and tells me names of things I can't recall
Sometimes I just can't but help but wonder who this man is
And if when he is gone will he'll remember me at all

I watch him close he works just like a piston in an engine
He only stops to take a drink and smoke a cigarette
When the day is ended, I look outside my window
There on the horizon, Mariano's silhouette

He sits upon a stone in a south-easterly direction
I know my charts I know that he is thinking of his home
I've never been the sort to say I'm in to intuition
But I swear I see the faces of the ones he calls his own

Their skin is brown as potters clay, their eyes void of expression
Their hair is black as widow's dreams, their dreams are all but gone
They're ancient as a vision of a sacrificial virgin
Innocent as crying from a baby being born

They hover around a dying flame and pray for his protection
Their prayers are all but answered by his letters in the mail
He sends them colored figures that he cuts from strips of paper
And all his weekly wages, saving nothing for himself

It's been a while since I have seen the face of Mariano
The border guards they came one day and took him far away
I hope that he is safe down there at home in Guanajuato
I worry though I read there's revolution every day

My 15 man crew poured 305 yards today for an extremely complicated foundation for a side hammer. We started at 6 am with forms still needing to be built and began pumping concrete at 10 right after the rain stopped and they'll be here for three or four more hours finishing it. They work their asses off.
