There's an article up on NOLA.com about Wednesday's court proceedings. I don't know how to link it from my phone. I'm old and stupid...
A brief recap:
There was a fourth victim in the house, named Breaux, that I was unaware of. Apparently, when he saw the front door being kicked down, he ran out the back door and didn't stop until he reach Elysian Fields Ave. He can't identify anyone or provide much in the way of evidence. I think it's fair to describe him as a reluctant witness, at best. It seems that Mr. Breaux has a very well developed sense of self-preservation.
A more serious problem for the Prosecution is that the cop who found the murder weapon, Joshua Hunt, has been in trouble and is no longer with NOPD. He was fired for perjury and malfeasance related to a different case. It wasn't new news to the Prosecution, but it's an obstacle that they'll have to overcome.
Some of the information that came out today may explain why this case took five years to get to trial. I'm not sure this is a slam dunk kind of case.
tLSU: Earlier in this thread, you expressed confidence in the Lead Prosecutor's ability to close a trial. If you've kept up with this case, I doubt today's developments are new revelations to you. Do you think Laura can persuade the jury to disregard the perjury/malfeasance evidence? Just curious about your opinion. If it's improper for you to respond, I know you won't.

Enjoy Angola, Mr. Lee. Your brothers will be joining you there shortly.

One down, one to go. Aside from the Lee brothers, were any other suspects identified?

Finally!
That's all I've got to say at the moment.

Sorry I missed you. Met the rest of the family over the past few days, seemed like a very close group and they were all relieved when it came out the right way.

This is the part that gets me Cork. I mean, how often does a gun jam?
I don't know how much you know about guns, but it's a pretty common occurrence; especially when you're talking about a Russian-made, most likely stolen and never cleaned firearm. The only thing I can say, I got lucky and had my brother Chad looking over my shoulder. Not to mention he didn't know how to properly fix the misfire, something that would have taken someone who actually knows about firearms about 10 seconds to remedy.
How does a man fire at someone multiple times and only hit once and graze twice? I can't answer that either. It was simply a combination of lucky and lack of firearms proficiency on the part of the offenders.

I hate the term closure, but I think it applies here. All the bullshite you had to put up with this incident. Hope this verdict is the door that shuts this really bad time for you and of course the other for the other families involved as well.

We still have another person to try in this case, although I think he'll plea out, or attempt to at least. I'm also sure this recently convicted defendant will appeal.
Regardless, this is far from over.

It was very surreal sitting in the court room today. Relief is all I really feel

Laura is an alright broad and I figured this case was a winner for her. 90 minute conviction is always impressive for a murder case.

Past few days, actually.
