From what I hear its more of a social status thing than a religious experience. I'm sure some there are religious but it's fashionable among people with $ to say they do Manresa.

I go to The Lady of the Oaks in Grand Coteau. It is awesome! I enjoy the p&q and not talking. I am not familiar with the one you speak of, but I would do it.

From what you hear from whom? People who go there? I know a large number of men who go there annually and have for many many years. Not a single one of them goes because it's fashionable. I don't know what could possibly be fashionable about a spiritual silent retreat.

I have never understood the attraction.

If I want to be alone, I'll go sit in a deer stand or on a boat somewhere.

I'm not knocking it at all so don't get offended. I'm just telling you what I personally hear about it. I'm sure its probably bs petty jealousy or general haters.

I've been several times, but do not go regularly anymore.

It is definitely worth it to go once and see if it is for you.

There are multiple talks usually given by very good speakers, then time in solitude to reflect on the nature of the talk. I like it but have not been going recently. I might have to get back in.

None of the talks, prayers, masses are mandatory. If you miss a couple meals in a row, they may come on a health check for you, that is all.
