well adequate is a relative term but essentially you got the picture. care to come and see?

No it isn't. Adequate is a very exact term. Adequate enough to be able to stop at the speed you are traveling before hitting whatever is in front of you.

oh and if you do try to maintain adequate stopping distance in either lane on a Friday PM near the BR airport you're gonna get shot

Why? If everyone is going the same speed and 10 over the speed limit, then it should be very easy to do so. The only time it would be difficult would be if say, someone was going under the speed limit, causing cars to stack up.

yep, maintaining a manageable over the speed limit speed and equidistant with the cars in front of me not busting my arse to get over for the 85mph jerk wad

I honestly don't have much of a problem with this, as long as you're actively passing the cars in the right lane and then you move over once you've passed the slower traffic.

no in this context adequate is variable and relative to the skill of the driver and the efficiency of the machine. and the 85 mph jerk wad resents the fact you won't press the guy in front of you and break that distance like he does to me. of course he can't get over using the right lane either, but hell the whole world has got to bail b/c he has flashing lights and all, halos.

Yep. Some a-hole starts riding you, get to where you can move over, do so and let him pass.

No, in this context, regardless of driver or machine, adequate is more than a car length.

Yea, you're part of the problem.
1. If you would speed up some, it would probably give room to pass on the right.
2. More accurately, it would probably give you the ability to move over to the right lane where you should be and let him pass. You have no clue why he is speeding besides your own prejudiced opinions of him. You don't own that lane and it is your responsibility to yield there as soon as reasonably possible.

Hell, in Alabama it is illegal to travel in the left lane, so you are breaking the law in this state.

I don't have much problem with it either, because I know how the rules of the road work and yield the left lane to faster drivers. My only problems come when people travel in the left lane and create a backup, which messes up both lanes.

I am DEFINITELY spreading the word.

I have no greater source of stress than the old retards that infest the roads of SW Fla.

It's technically illegal here in South Carolina too. But when the Richland County and Columbia Police all cruise in the left lane, even when the two right lanes are completely empty, people are going to ignore the law and do the same.

ETA: I've actually talked to some natives here, and apparently it's common to just sit in the left lane so you don't have to worry about merging traffic from the right. frick the law and backing up traffic for everyone else though I guess.

Oh don't get me wrong, almost nobody actually knows the law. Birmingham has started to "crack down" on it some, but most people don't even know its the law.

You are right.

I just want to be alone on the road. I find a big gap and hang out there.

It seems like people from Texas that drive in Louisiana are especially bad about moving over

I can't count the number of times you see that vehicle with the Texas plate hauling arse behind you on the interstate. And when you change lanes to let them pass, they decide get beside you and travel at your speed keeping you in the right lane.

Funny you say this. German law considers driving slow in the fast lane a much more serious offense than we do.

From Dallas to Shreveport on I-20, there is a certain demographic who expressly uses the Left Lane as their personal form of reparations. It's maddening as all frick. It's as if yielding the lane means you lose an acre.
