This is bullshite probably 75% of the time. People typically get the attitude of "I guess I'll just be stuck in traffic" and get lazy and complacent. They get lulled into that frame of mind and end up doing 45 on the interstate with quarter mile gaps between them thus exacerbating the problem.

In atlanta this is the sole province of black female drivers. They get out in the left lane, drive 5 miles under the speed limit and talk on the got dam cell phone. No fricks given.
it is amazing. If you are stuck in the back of a line of cars blocked by said driver, almost 100 percent of the time you can predict who the culprit is.

I personally blame "defensive driving". It should be renamed to what it is: "drive scared, timid, and constantly thinking the next car you see is going to kill you."

Transportation Engineering is a real thing. Civil Engineers usually take 2 semesters of it to get a bachelors degree. They actually offer more classes than just those two as electives at UT.

It's the fricking law dumbass. In Louisiana the law states that if you are not passing you HAVE to stay in the right fricking lane. THAT IS THE LAW IN LOUISIANA. The law also states that you CANNOT speed, even if it is to pass. Downvote all you want, the two laws together make no fricking sense because it puts every driver on the road in the right lane when going the speed limit which puts drivers bumper to bumper. I didn't make the fricking laws, but they are the laws and you are supposed to follow them so you ignorant fricks can downvote all you want. I'm fully aware that most people break these laws every day. I know how to drive and I'm not a slow driver. I'm just quoting the damn law.

I agree with what is said in the video, but there is a major flaw that exists in reality outside of the concept. All would be good and fine if cars got back into the right lane after passing, but that doesn't always happen. What happens is you have some drivers who feel that they're going 85+ mph, therefore it's ok to stay in the left instead of constantly getting back over to the right lane and passing when need be. So what we get is a mix of drivers going 10 mph under the speed limit and 20 mph over the speed limit, all in what's supposed to be a passing lane.

Good point. Defensive driving basically teaches people to drive slow and you'll be fine.

Here in South Carolina we have an awesome combination of the white trash in a big truck and black female on her cell phone. Then they somehow combine into this giant train of cars going slow in the left lane.
My record so far is passing 15 cars, all in the left lane, while I cruised in the right lane on Interstate 20. Not a single car in the right lane with me. I routinely have to pass groups of 5-7 cars who are just cruising in the left lane...to include the local police.
After driving in Germany for three and a half years, I've become a very pissed off driver most of the time because I've experienced how well traffic flows if people just follow the fricking law and keep right except to pass.
My record so far is passing 15 cars, all in the left lane, while I cruised in the right lane on Interstate 20. Not a single car in the right lane with me. I routinely have to pass groups of 5-7 cars who are just cruising in the left lane...to include the local police.

so i'm in the left lane going 70 in a 60. line of cars ahead of me, none yield to me. right lane as full. i'm supposed to find a place in the right lane b/c some jerk wad comes up on my tail going 85? nope, not gonna do it. wouldn't be prudent.
