It sucks but at the end of the day it’s about the business, CEO and shareholders making money

And that's okay, as long as employers can accept that they'll be treated with every bit as much disrespect and inhumanity in the job process as they do to employees.

It's a double standard when an employer gets angry with an employee for leaving with no notice, but an employee is just expected to be fired on a Friday evening and escorted back to their office by security, then out the door.

I've been fired, laid off, and quit jobs without notice. When I was fired and laid off, I was told to just accept it and get out. When I gave a 2 day notice, the employer took an attitude.

frick that, it's a two-way street.

I agree. If you give a two week notice, most of them will just tell you to leave now. So just give them a to- day notice. Like " I'm leaving this bitch TODAY".

KBR gave us all a 15lb turkey and a layoff paper about 5 years back the day before Thanksgiving.

We are all just numbers

My grandfather had one job other than being drafted into the Army during WWII. There was loyalty by both the company and my grandfather in their relationship years ago.
Now companies have to worry about being sued constantly by employees and employees have to worry about the means used by the company to keep from being sued. There is much mistrust today and less true loyalty from either employee or management.

In response to the comment regarding notice given and how one is treated when fired I have to say that employers always seem to think that it's just business when they make a employment decision and personal when an employee does the same thing.
I gave my notice once and told the company that I would not leave them until they replaced me. They accepted initially then fired me a week later or said that they did. So now I am only concerned about me.

Would she have upped and left for a better job and better pay if given the opportunity? Employees are rarely loyal as well.

I can’t believe a company would let someone go... ever... at this time of year...

This has to be the first time a company has ever let anyone go in an effort to save costs and keep the company a float. Get the pitchforks and start up an internet revolt against this company.

Oh wait, never mind. This has happened since people were paid to do a job and is not new.
