I'll use your tact from the other day...

quote:

I will never understand why someone would ever be against incest

I just cannot comprehend why someone would willfully vote against someone being able to do something that has absolutely zero affect on their lives

Studies:

2008 metastudy from Michigan State University

quote:

Analyses revealed statistically significant effect size differences between groups for one of the six outcomes: parent-child relationship. Results confirm previous studies in this current body of literature, suggesting that children raised by same-sex parents fare equally well to children raised by heterosexual parents.

1998 research from the University of Virgina published in Child Development.

quote:

Children [developed] in normal fashion, and that their adjustment was unrelated to structural variables such as parental sexual orientation or the number of parents in the household. These results held true for teacher reports as well as for parent reports. Variables associated with family interactions and processes were, however, significantly related to indices of children’s adjustment. Parents who were experiencing higher levels of parenting stress, higher levels of interparental conflict, and lower levels of love for each other had children who exhibited more behavior problems.

2013 study from Tufts University, Boston Medical Center and the Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health published in Pediatrics.

quote:

Extensive data available from more than 30 years of research reveal that children raised by gay and lesbian parents have demonstrated resilience with regard to social, psychological, and sexual health despite economic and legal disparities and social stigma. Many studies have demonstrated that children’s well-being is affected much more by their relationships with their parents, their parents’ sense of competence and security, and the presence of social and economic support for the family than by the gender or the sexual orientation of their parents. Lack of opportunity for same-gender couples to marry adds to families’ stress, which affects the health and welfare of all household members.

I would think this would be obvious to anyone with any rational thought, but I guess not

Why do people give a shite if gay people can get married in the eyes of the state?

Its not like the government can force churches to marry them. The religious people are the ones worried about it, but according to their own teachings the homosexuals won't be married in the eyes of their God so what is the issue?

People fricking suck. Who cares? How does Joe and Bob down the street getting married affect at all?

You're an angry man. I think the point is well made that comparing apples to oranges makes no sense, just like when you compared blacks to gays.

You are playing checkers. The First Cut is playing chess.

You are basing your argument off one visible move (birth defects)

He is basing his off long term damage to the foundations of historically stable societies.

If it causes no harm, why would anyone be against it?

I just don't get it. It blows my mind.

It 50 years people will look back at the world pre-gay equality and wonder what the frick everyone was thinking. Much like we look back at the 50's and segregation and think "what the frick were we thinking?"

We see cultural breakdowns in the black community even though they are completely FREE to do what they've done....yet we sit here and BLAST blacks because they let their culture break down starting with the families.

And then TURN AROUND and defend further cultural breakdowns and claim no harm comes?

Which is it?

No one can answer this.

Because God told them that it would destroy society is my best guess.
