From the Forum For Equality's press release:

The lawsuit charges that Louisiana's refusal to recognize same-sex marriages violates the US constitutional guarantees of equal protection and due process. The prestigious New Orleans law firm of Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann filed the suit in US District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, on behalf of Forum for Equality Louisiana and four couples. The couples are Jacqueline and Lauren Brettner, Nicholas Van Sickels and Andrew Bond, Henry Lambert and Carey Bond, and Havard Scott and Sergio March Prieto.
Louisiana singles out only same-sex marriages for unequal treatment, a violation of the constitutional guarantees of equal protection and due process. Louisiana's disparate treatment of same-sex and opposite-sex couples who are married outside of Louisiana demonstrates that the purpose of the Louisiana Anti-Recognition Laws is to "‘impose a disadvantage, a separate status, and so a stigma upon all who enter into same-sex marriages’ that were lawfully celebrated in other states,” according to the lawsuit, which cites the US Supreme Court’s 2013 decision of United States v. Windsor overturning a portion of the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
This is as basic as the Golden Rule. Treating others as one would want to be treated includes extending all the rights and privileges of marriage to same-sex couples who are truly committed to each other. This lawsuit would uphold this very basic principle of freedom for all Louisianans.

For some perhaps, but for others it's about getting society to legitimize it by getting them to recognize it, and I am telling you this plainly. This will not end until churches recognize it. You can believe what you want, but that's the end game, getting conservative moral fundamental and mainline churches to be made to recognize them through marriage ceremonies. Not immediately, but it's coming.

I don't see that happening in the next 2 decades

Just let them do it so the politicians can't use it as a platform to manipulate people anymore and the gays stop being whinney little bitches.
That sums it up imo. Let's be progressive for once Louisiana!

There shouldn't be a law for it.
There shouldn't be a law against it.
Because the state offers acknowledgement of heterosexual couples, they legally should acknowledge same sex couples on the basis of equality alone. Anything else is discrimination.
Whether you agree with it morally or not...it doesn't matter. Equal rights should be for everyone.
Now...if you do have a moral issue with it, I'm forced to ask why the actions of others which hurt no one bother you.
If a man and a woman who hate each other are legally allowed to get married...why wouldn't a homosexual couple who love each other be allowed to marry.

Well, nobody saw this coming in 1994 either, and in 84, gay marriage wasn't even a blip on a blip on a radar. Hey 2014.... 1994 called and said they don't recognize you. Society is deteriorating to the lowest common denominator, and not just as it pertains to the moral aspects, but also even more importantly, in principles and a calloused indifference to it when it doesn't strike a nerve with our own personal interests.
Oh well is our motto in those instances, and that's why it continues to deteriorate. You don't have to be a fundamentalist or a believer to realize just how wrong it is to force someone to recognize or do something that is not in their good conscience to do, especially when it pertains to their 1st amendment religious liberty. However, people will turn a blind eye to it, and then when it happens, they will soon afterwards acclimate themselves to the new environment and rationalize it even.
BTW... It's already happening...
Judge orders Colorado Bakery to cater to Same Sex Weddings.
So, when does government trump your religious liberty? When government says it does.
Personally I don't care what people do behind closed doors as long it doesn't affect me but I am so tired of hearing about gay shite everytime I turn on the TV or get on the computer.
IDC if Micheal Sams will never be a tight end in life or in the NFL. He's gay...cool. BFD.
Gay activists are their own worst enemy sometimes IMO.
