What airplane would you buy if you had a budget of $225,000 and maintenance and fuel costs were not a concern.

A used Bonanza right before its engine overhaul is due.

You can get a good used Cessna 310 for that.

Depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for a tricked out STOL (short takeoff/landing) plane? Or one for more passengers/conventional Cessna/Piper etc?

My boss has a Cirrus SR22 something or other. I think he paid around $450K-550K. He took delivery in Tennessee and flew it back to either San Carlos or Palo Alto over a couple of days. It looks like genuine Doctor Killer to me.

I'm sure you can find a used model for a lot less than that.

Depends on the mission. You can get plenty of airplane for that amount.

You want to be careful about the transaction so you don't end up owing 20k in sales/use tax.

Are you looking to make 179 expensing election and depreciate he whole thing in 2017? Keep in mind aircraft are listed property.

Like others have said, it depends on a lot. What are you wanting to do with it? How many people typically? How far? How often? What's your skill level as a pilot-private? Instrument? You say maintenance isn't important, but with a twin engine, those costs go up pretty dramatically.

But with no info, my vote would be for a low time Cirrus SR22 followed very closely by a Bonanza A36
