re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311
I'm in Bluffton (HHI) and starting to question the evacuate decision really for the first time. But with 2 little ones were probably just going to go.. will never regret that decision ...

I'm tired of the sphincter emotional swing with each model update for HHI. It's currently back set to *high* after a morning of some relaxation ...

I have 2 little kids, no way we are staying. Mathew was a Cat 1 and made a mess of things, but I'll definitely take that over a stronger storm ...

re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311
Just reading the latest this morning. So here in HHI, am I feeling better about this making landfall in our area as a cat 1 or so? Or is it still too early?...

re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311
I live in Bluffton as well. Matthew was our first big storm since moving here and flooding wasn't too bad outside of places right next to water and typical flash flooding like you see on 278 after heavy rain. HHI flooded worse than we did. What surprised me was the amount of trees that fell for a ca...

re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311
I work in Savannah. You're right, you have to walk down steps to river street, but that's just the main part. As you move further down Bay St (one block up from the river) it drops back down to river level pretty quick, so downtown could definitely see flooding. Shoot, high tide and heavy rain cause...

re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311
Yeah, evac plan is basically the same thing we did last year. My advice for those dealing with an evacuation for the first time.. don't wait to leave or your life will be miserable stuck on the road, likely going directions you may not want to go. They gave the evac order at 5PM last year and me...

re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311
My question too. Being in Hilton Head it seems this thing is coming our way, just a matter of how long it's over land first. If it makes landfall around Miami and starts tracking up the coast, will it slow down significantly? I evacuated last Oct for Matthew, really don't want to go again. Wish this...

Looks like it could suck for us in Hilton Head too. Things are still being cleaned up from Matthew a year ago, and that was a Cat 1. I don't want to see what a bigger storm would do here ...

Matthew definitely wasn't a giant storm, but we are still cleaning up here in Hilton Head. My church actually held a neighborhood work day today to work on storm damaged homes. ...

re: The most airplane you can buy for $225,000 - Furbs311
Like others have said, it depends on a lot. What are you wanting to do with it? How many people typically? How far? How often? What's your skill level as a pilot-private? Instrument? You say maintenance isn't important, but with a twin engine, those costs go up pretty dramatically. But with no i...

re: Electronics ban expanding... - Furbs311
My international trips are usually less than 4 days of travel, so I rarely check a bag which saves lots of time, especially when coming home and having to reclaim baggage in ATL or JFK. This will blow, especially if I can't watch my movies on the iPad! ...
