Not all are directly PI, but

Ive seen them try for general damages on a paper cut, bee sting (not allergic), staged accidents, prior injuries. On some of the most ridiculous claims you have heard of, I have seen them go after the defendant big time. Dealing with them can sometimes be a pain. But not all are like that.

I'm just not a fan of general damages. I understand the spirit of it, but that is where things get out of hand.

That's fair enough. It is always difficult trying to quantify something so inherently subjective and impossible to verify.

Gallup is a fricking joke.

Why is it a joke? Are you disputing their findings on this specific poll? Do you have a larger or other problems with Gallop? Are you taking issue with the methodology?

quote:

Survey Methods

Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Dec. 8-11, 2014, with a random sample of 805 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For results based on the total sample of national adults, the margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.

Each sample of national adults includes a minimum quota of 50% cellphone respondents and 50% landline respondents, with additional minimum quotas by time zone within region. Landline and cellular telephone numbers are selected using random-digit-dial methods.

17 years of polling data from Gallop:

quote:

Americans have been asked to rate the honesty and ethics of various professions annually since 1990, and periodically since 1976. Nurses have topped the list each year since they were first included in 1999, with the exception of 2001 when firefighters were included in response to their work during and after the 9/11 attacks. Since 2005, at least 80% of Americans have said nurses have high ethics and honesty. Two other medical professions -- medical doctors and pharmacists -- tie this year for second place at 65%, with police officers and clergy approaching 50%.

quote:

Americans continue to rate those in medical professions as having higher honesty and ethical standards than those in most other professions. Nurses have consistently been the top-rated profession -- although doctors and pharmacists also receive high ratings, despite the drops since 2013 in the percentage of Americans who say they have high ethics. The high ratings of medical professions this year is significant after the Ebola outbreak which infected a number of medical professionals both in the U.S. and in West Africa.

Good points, but nurses are counts.

Exactly why I think its ridiculous.

There are good lawyers out there though. Recently heard one tell his client to not lie, in the middle of a recorded statement.

It was a Friday and he knew the client was lying about previous injuries and ya boy had to hit the road for Jazzfest

I had no idea it was so bad that telling someone not to lie made them a "good" lawyer

Maybe I really did luck out landing where I did.

every car wreck gets people at least $10-20k and doctors visits. We all even know a lawyer who can get MRIs and stuff. I've never sued after a wreck because I just didn't feel the need to, but the guy I sold my car to got in a wrck then got $32k then another wreck and $15k, but he sues every time someone touches him.

I'm really down on journalists. Real estate is a joke 90% of the time. I think attorneys would be more respectable if there weren't so many and they could refuse frivolous litigation.

Easily journalists and real estate agents. Maybe financial advisers too.

I don't know if it's been said but people who make a career out of welfare assistance have to be up there in the discussion.

What all this tells me is that there are a lot of envious oyster dicks who wish they did something else then what they actually do.
