It's a decent city but 8 days just there may be a bit much. Have you considered taking the family to Baltimore for the day and maybe Philly for a night.

Some cool architecture, a lot of museums, a lot of hobos, a lot of drugs, great bars, and Arlington is pretty cool.

You better speaka the espanol.

Find a big boy job and live in western Loudon County. I lived in that area for 14 years doing IT work. Out of 14 years, I went to the district about 10 times.

I'll be there tomorrow. But for work. I've been as a tourist like 5 times and lived there for a summer fellowship.

I loved D.C. when we went. My daughter was two and she hated the metro, escalators and elevators, at the time. She was miserable most of that trip.

Baltimore's Inner Harbor and Philly are worth visits too. Baltimore is less than an hour from DC if traffic is good. Philly has more to do IMHO but is only a little over two hours away.

For an average 1 bed 1 bath apartment the rent is about $1500/mo with no utilities.

Thats a little low for D.C. proper unless you are in the worst parts of town

That's what I was thinking. I had relatives out in Arlington and I believe their rent was $3000 for a small 2 bedroom.

I went there one time during Thanksgiving and it was like we had the whole town to ourselves. It was fantastic, just a little chilly.

Damn, where'd you get a deal like that? In my building that would go for $2000 at least. Granted, I'm in Courthouse.

Reston has some good low-price choices if you're willing to drive a bit.
