One little quote that always keeps me keepin on was said by Robert Frost.

quote:

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.

This is absolute gold. Thanks a bunch for your story.

I have gone through some rough patches the past few year but I like to think of life as a sine wave (for you engineers out there). If you're on a down swing (or a trough) know that an upswing (peak) is on the way. Any time I get down about something I know it won't take long for me to start feeling well again.

I also never want to ever have to get on any type of psychotropic pill. I hope to resolve all my issues on my own through meditation and focus.

I think the thing about society that has caused an increase in anxiety is just how much is going on at a given time. You can increase the processing power and hard drive space of a computer, but the human mind can rarely exceed certain limitations. Our brains are overloaded and it helps to meditate and relax to clear your mind when your thoughts won't stop.

Again, thanks for sharing. Glad you're in a good spot.

Not to make light of it, but I'd bet that 99% (or more) of people go through this same thing and 99% of those make it out just like you. Congrats on surviving, or better yet, not giving up and taking the stupid (some might say "easy") way out.

You could have used the title "Life" as your subject line.

Very pleasant and accurate analysis. I sometimes wonder if a "troll-free" OT would be great or suck really bad.

We can have it both ways. Most of the time with threads like this the trolls are on the outside looking in while everyone else agrees.

Great post! Just remember that "the worm always turns". I always liked that saying and it has helped me through some tough times. Good luck to you.

I've honestly never been able to understand depression. My thought process is shite happens to everyone, just power through it. I've had a whole bunch of bad stuff go on and have been through long period of being numb to stuff, but my personality allows me to just think "frick it". From what I have seen, people who are "depressed" make themselves feel worse just by thinking that they are depressed. Getting off of your arse and quit moping around will help tremendously. Sitting around just makes it worse

As for the anxiety part, I hadn't ever felt it until last year, and it is only test anxiety. I get it 30 minutes before big tests, but just nut up and know I have to get shite done. Once I start, it all goes away because concentration doesn't allow me to think about it. Now, I just relax an hour before and watch TV or something that takes my mind off of it. I'll still get a few minutes of anxiety before tests, but not as serious as before

Eta: I could be talking out of my arse about the depression part because I honestly don't think I have the ability to feel that. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have ever felt any primary emotions other than anger for longer than a few minutes. I don't feel sad or happy. Weird, but that's how my brain works, and maybe that is why I am not able to feel depression

Thank you for that post, I have had some serious setbacks lately and things looked really bleak. I have taken a job making a fraction of what I made before and I'm struggling not to feel like a failure but I like what I'm doing right now. I guess I will see where it all goes.
