When a government has become as monolithic, degenerate and corrupt as ours has, it is time for a little anarchy. Read some Thomas Jefferson, you bootlicker.

Not exactly the same. I wouldn't be embarrassed if The FBI looked at my computer, hell they've seen it all.I wouldn't want my Mom looking at it though.

Maybe there's a silver lining to all of this. Perhaps this will cause a movement to go back to your dummy cell phones with no camera, and no internet, and the govt/hackers will have a whole lot less to go off of.

High tech security doesn't always beat low tech.

They can dig away through my pics of nekkid skanks and sexts and lengthy negotiations with ex wives over kids' school, schedules, practices.

The perception of liberty is subjective whereas Quoting Ben Franklin to apply to 2016 is stupid and that's not subjective.

Serious question- if the police showed up at your door tomorrow and demanded your house keys and that a camera w microphone be installed in your house, would you agree? Of course they would assure you that they would only use it with a court order/warrant.

It's precisely the same logic. If you have nothing to hide, then you don't need privacy.

That's not how privacy works, I'm afraid.

What this line of reasoning also fails to grasp is that no one is currently stopping you or all like minded individuals from turning over their personal items for inspection, keeping their doors unlocked for searches, leaving their curtains open for unobstructed views by LEO, etc. You have every right to do just that. What you ought not assume is that your lack of desire to protect your privacy should take precedence over everyone else's desire to hold onto theirs...whether they have anything to hide or not.

Unlocking nine more phones because the government "might" catch one of the bad guys.

It's amazing what some of you small-government types on this board are ok with.

So you wouldn't put up a legal fight because everyone else was consenting?

Nope. I really wouldn't give a frick if the government listend to / watched / analyzed everything I did.

I mean sure if all of a sudden they use that technology to crack down on blowjobs from the girlfriend b/c it'a breaking some law in Louisiana then I would mind.

But to speculate that's the ultimate goal is on par with the Walton & Johnson crowd I mentioned. That's fricking stupid. About as stupid as thinking the government is gonna "take your guns" and comparing Obama to Hitler.

It's really funny to see the generational divide between the pre and post Cold War crowd. There was a time when Americans prided themselves on being "free", and that they didn't have a KGB or a Stasi looking over their shoulder, or being afraid of the secret police coming for you in the middle of the night because of what you said.

Now it's "I have nothing to hide, so feel free to surveil me constantly". As if only the guilty are arrested and prosecuted. That's an awful lot of freedom to give away for extremely questionable returns. Scary times.

Do you think they actually have someone sitting there and watching?

I know these guys are on terrestrial radio but I don't think I have ever listened to them. I am a XM radio guy. What do they have to do with the basis of the 4th Amendment?

nah, there isn't some tool that can be used any time they want to get in. What is used in San berdino can't be used again. And did you forget that Apple has done this for them before?

Guess what? the FBI has multiple filings for search warrants out right now

Well, that's kind of my point.Nobody would want to,but some people are using that as an argument, about privacy.

I just recently had a court case, where I went a bit over the top to collect some money that a guy owed me..gun involved..nasty text messages, stuff like that.
I felt that I stayed completely within my rights. The police and DA felt otherwise,so they tried me in court. They tried to use my texts and stuff, but I didn't do anything illegal, and I knew it.
I stood up to it and let it go to trial, I was found not guilty.

This entire statement is wrong according to the reports I have read.

Apple says that if they put the software on the phone to hack it, the FBI can reverse engineer it and use it again and again.

Apple has done PREVIOUS VERSIONS of IoS but not this one. Totally different deal as that was not hacking the Ten Tries software. Once that is deactivated, the FBI has a machine that just inputs every possible combination of codes on the keypad until it is successful. BTW, I really want to see this machine as I am curious if it is software based and plugs into the phone or if it is mechanical and has "fingers" that rapidly put the codes in via the touch screen.

They are just whack jobs who think the government wants to do all that illegal search and seizure stuff including take guns.

There's you 'crazy gun totin white racist men' on the far right, There's the 'lazy entitled' on the far left.

And there's normal in the middle who think you're all fricked in the head.

you need to do some more reading from actual reputable sources. Try security companies.

good thing Apple said it, bc what company would ever grossly over exaggerate their position in a public statement.

1) any other device will require a device unique Apple signature to upload the modified system image (that modified system image can be created by any compitent coder btw). The FBI can't just use the image anytime they want.

2)if somehow statement 1 was false, which it isn't, the modified image helps with getting in 4 or 6 digit pw. In no way does "unlock" the encryption. Remedy: don't make a digit pw

3)this method can only be used on earlier iPhones. The security enclave on newer ones does not allow this to work.

4) FBI still needs a warrant signed by a judge, meaning they have a damn good reason for search and seizure. And if you think the judicial system is just handing those out at anytime, then you probably shouldn't live in the US
