Since I'm not religious and have nothing to lose, maybe your significant other would like to "spread the word of the day".

I put one by my front door. Seems to have worked.

Post a "no spreading the word" sign and see if that works!

You can apply for a permit to solicit that would exempt them from it. They probably didn't but it's possible.

Wasn't rude about it... well i'm sure it wasn't what they wanted to hear. Just trying to relax and they don't take no for an answer... i looked up somethings online and there seems to be a difference of opinion on what is defined.

You should have given them $20. I heard they never come back if you give them a small donation

Yes, if not selling or soliciting cash/donations, they are exempt!

This plus the no solicitation signs at the front of the neighborhood don't mean squat. It has to be on the home or they can legally still solicit.

"Solicitors", by definition, are people trying to get business orders with the "drop in". There's no law against stopping by to share information.

I now live in a gated community and don't have to worry about that shite.

At our last hours. I put up a no solicitation sign at my front door right below the doorbell button. I would embarrass the frick out of anyone that disregarded the sign and rang or knocked.

I don't think solicitation means what you think it means. Either way the only person you'd likely embarrass would be yourself although it's technically not embarrassment if you're not self aware enough to realize it.

In EBR Parish door to door salesmen have to get a permit to do door to door sales and they must cary the permit with them. Certain neighborhoods in EBRP have made themselves offlimits to these legal door to door sales people. Making it illegal for these registered salespeople to work door to door in those neighborhoods. Those neighborhoods have signs that mean something. If anyone goes door to door selling AT&T or knives etc... in those neighborhods residents can call the Sheriff. But political and religeous door knockers are exempt.

Screw spreading the word. Respect other people's religions by not trying to convert them. Arrogance to think your religion is better than anyone elses.

A few years ago I canvassed for a political campaign. We'd usually ignore the 'no solicitor' houses unless they were older super voters
