Have you been to Honolulu? In my opinion, outside of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach, it is mostly a shithole. Other parts of Oahu are nice but not so much Honolulu itself

I'm partial to Juneau

Its pretty spread out (second largest city in the USA by area) but has more restaurants per capita, world class outdoor stuff.

Granted it's not the nicest city in Maine, but it's still pretty damn nice compared to most of the other capital cities.

Raleigh is pretty nice. That and Denver would have to be the two nicest state capitals I've been to.

Both cool, fun cities, but can have a hipster lean to them.
I'll throw in Madison and Montpelier.

Hipsters are a good sign, as they generally flock to nice places/make places nicer.

I was just about the say the same thing.

Other than being right on the ocean it's actually not a very nice city. The homeless shanty town issue there has gotten completely out of control.

Denver is the GOAT state Capitol.

Boise is good, too.

Sacramento is a really great town. It kinda seems Midwestern but with more Asians and the climate is much better.

I must be in the minority on SLC. I think it is kind of a dump in a really, really beautiful part of the country.

Also, Madison is very underrated.
ETA, forgot Denver, too.

Raleigh and Santa Fe aren't bad.

Annapolis is nice.

I've also been to Phoenix, Little Rock, Sacramento, Denver, Atlanta, Jackson and Austin. The one I remember standing out was Austin.

I suspect some of the tinier New England state capitols like Concord and Montpelier are pretty good as well.
