re: Brexit leaders already walking back some of their biggest promises - maine82
Farage isn't going to be in charge of anything. He's not in government and UKIP's reason for being is gone. I expect them to filter out within 5 years. Nigel Farage will go down as an extraordinarily influential politician who by sheer force of will forced David Cameron to promise an E.U. refer...

re: I am getting nervous - maine82
Hillary is going to be President. Learn to accept that. Trump is not going to win and Johnson won't pull more than 12%. The best Republicans can do now is work to save the Congress....

re: LSU Administration may decide NOT to continue Mike the Tiger tradition - maine82
I feel like I'm in the small minority that is entirely indifferent. I think it was dumb to spend so much money on the habitat though.
If Mike the Tiger isn't replaced, it won't affect my life that much, but then why did we spend all that damn money? If you're going to spend millio...

re: If you could punch one politician in the face who would it be? - maine82
It would be too easy to say Obama or Trump. Rubio was our most electable Republican and a solid conservative. But Christie decided to take him out and then grant Trump legitimacy right when Rubio started to regain momentum. So I'll say Christie....
Iraq
Mistake
Afghanistan
Not a mistake. What else what you have us do? Leave? Clearly not a good idea when you consider how ISIS came into existence.
Patriot Act
The Patriot Act was probably an overreach, but it sounds good right about n...

re: Ben Simmons refuse to work out for teams, add 20lbs of muscle. - maine82
I would hope you would at least do enough research to figure out that guy's name before making such a major, franchise shaping decision.
Yes, but I'm a TD poster, not Jerry Colangelo. If you're asking for my gut instinct, I'm going with Ingram....

re: Ben Simmons refuse to work out for teams, add 20lbs of muscle. - maine82
Not willing to try out for other teams, didn't put in the effort at LSU, etc. I don't know much about Ingram other than he's regarded as a sure-fire Top 2 pick and he came out of the Krzyzewski system. In large part because of the second reason, I'm inclined to trust him more....

re: 51% of U.S Muslims want Sharia; 60% of young Muslims more loyal to Islam than US - maine82
60% of young Muslims more loyal to Islam than US
In fairness, I'd consider myself more loyal to Jesus than the U.S. So that statement in and of itself doesn't bother me. I think the question would be better phrased as, "Do you think it's possible to be both a devout Muslim an...

re: Mateen signed over his home to Afghan brother in law in April for just $10 - maine82
This is getting fricking ridiculous
What angers me is the media is giving Obama a pass because they want to pile on Republicans over guns. Disney notifying the FBI that he was casing Disney in April is devastating. If it was Mitt Romney in office, the political heat would be exco...

re: Thoughts on American Territories? - maine82
1st, American Samoans are granted citizenship, like all other territories and states.
The Samoan leadership doesn't want it. They say it threatens their "way of life," namely their communal land system. It's a sticky situation and I wouldn't want to live there, but I'm not sure t...

re: Thoughts on American Territories? - maine82
As for what should happen to these places, I'm not against statehood for Puerto Rico or the District of Columbia in theory but practically as a conservative I'm against it. On the other four territories, the smallest U.S. state by population is Wyoming at 586,107. The four territories all have l...
Nah, 2012 referendum was 61% for statehood, 33% Free Association, and 5% Independence
There was a major boycott of the referendum by people who were for commonwealth status, because the referendum question was crafted by the pro-statehood party. Instead of allowing a commonwealth ...

re: What's up with americans on the left generally opposing Brexit? - maine82
Do liberals in America have some sort of alternative image of british voters? Do they fear that without eu constraint, there will be dangerous developments? I just don't get it. Leftwing voters in britain are likely going to vote in favor of leaving.
My impression of British po...
