Only got sick from oysters once, lasted maybe 24 hours.

Went back to a happy hour and ate 2 dozen the next week.

Got it once and I haven't eaten a raw oyster since. I just can't do it.

Same here. It was from a fried oyster po-boy from Mike Anderson's. I was hellishly sick for a day or so and then fine after that (although much lighter). I don't think I laid off oysters in the immediate aftermath of that episode.

I got it once. After 2 weeks when I was good to go, I hopped back on the oyster horse.

Thread Hijack - Net, Jordan looked good last weekend.

Food poisoning could have come from the tomatoes, lettuce, condiments, anything that you had on the poboy. If the oysters were fried, it was likely something other than them.

Stopped eating them for 1 year after getting poisoned once. I didn't utilize much caution before that but now I stick to the "Never in a month without an R in the name" rule (which people tell me is a myth but I don't care; it makes sense to me). And I also will never eat them at Parrain's again.

Otherwise I still knock 'em out!

Possibly. I assumed one of the oysters didn't get completely fried. Also my GF at the time had one too and she didn't have any problems. Either way, it didn't keep me away from oysters for long. Love me some mollusks. Of course, they're not quite the same out here.

Never had a problem with oysters until about a year and a half ago when I got terrible food poisoning. Tried them out again about 2 months ago and got sick again. I'm 28 and probably won't touch them again the rest of my life.

Got it about 4-5 years ago from oysters at Chimes by LSU. Still won't go near a raw one but I do devour a couple dozen chargrilled once or twice a month.

ETA: still haven't been back to either Chimes location and have no intention to ever go back.

Also got it from Taco Bell about 10 years ago from a couple taco Supremes and have not stepped foot in a taco bell since

On vets in metairie? That place is great. Though I usually get their prime rib po boy.

Shrimp is what gave me the worst food poisoning I've ever had. But it was my first time in Nola, so I went to the brass band show anyways.

I apologize to anyone that worked at Howlin Wolf 7 years ago. It was my puke in the curtained off storage area at the Brass Off

I was never an oyster fan, but they always had them for Christmas with my family. About 7 years ago, they got a bad batch. Several family members got very sick. My grandfather spent quite a long time in the hospital because of it. He was well into his 80's at the time and his age had a lot to do with how hard he took it, but still. It was enough for a few weeks in the hospital.

I wasn't much for trying them before that, and certainly never will now.
