I tend to agree. She should either let it go or speak to him about it directly. She could then bring it to hr if the situation evolves from there. It depends on their history of working together and her level of business maturity. HR is an option, though, and I would never tell an employee not to go to HR. I'd much rather hear all the piss ant stuff than not hear anything until I get a letter from an attorney.
