Does she work at a strip club?

I can't imagine any professional work environment where a boss would say that.

I would have a talk with him. I have done it before.

Aren't you a chick? Don't tell me what's appropriate and inappropriate.

Anyone with common sense could tell you that. Or do I have to get a guy to say that also while I go to the kitchen and make a sammich?

Telling someone - male OR female - to go frick themselves is inappropriate for anyone in the vast majority of workplaces.

Yes but I find it curious that she didn't feel the need to go to HR about it. She very well could have preceded the boss's outburst with some inappropriate comment herself.

If my supervisor said anything close to this to me unprovoked I would've contacted HR within the hour.

It's pretty absurd to think that this is appropriate.

Same here. It'd probably be the first thing I'd do.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

A sammich is always appropriate.

Did you make up this story to tell the OT you finally have a girlfriend? Congrats.

I went to HR when my boss tried to get me out the door sooner than I wanted (resignation). If he had said something like that to me I would have immediately pulled him aside and had a little chat.

My mom did some freelance work for city hall before I was born and the mayor at the time was inappropriate one time and she let it slip to my dad. The next week they were at an after-hours business function and the mayor was also in attendance. My dad approached him calmly and simply said if he ever tried it again he would kill him. I don't know what my dad does exactly, but he spent a year at the Pentagon immediately after 9/11 and two years abroad after (Quatar). I believe him.

Without hearing what sparked that statement, our advice is worthless.

I told her to go to HR. We'll see if that happens. She seems to think he'll apologize tomorrow.

I can't imagine a hostile environment at a bank, let alone one that would warrant saying "go frick yourself"

Wasn't feminism all about them being treated equal in the workplace?

And she's arguing with her boss? About what? Why? Did she have a right to do so? What's her title in the company? What kind of job?

Damn. What did she do to upset him? I can't imagine saying that to anyone, especially in a work environment.

I wouldn't go to HR, yet. She should have a private conversation with him about the inappropriateness of the action, ask for an apology, and let him know that if it ever happens again, she will let HR deal with it.

I would expect her to want to work for someone like that...hostile work environment and undue stress...If she's defending him then yes I would be suspicious of their relationship or of her actions leading up to the f bomb.
