Lafayette is by the Basin and Vermilion Parish has just alot of hunting and fishing areas (the Bay). All within 30-45 minutes

Yea Laffy is a better city, especially now that traffic is bad in LC, but with the qualifiers the OP has, LC would be a much better fit.
and yea laffy has way more weirdos.

Good lord man just stop. It's so obvious you're an alter and a troll.
And even on the slim chance you're not, if those are the three places you're deciding between, just kill yourself and be done with it.
On second thought, kill yourself regardless.

Grew up in LC and went back recently and was very impressed at what they've done to downtown.
It was a Friday night and we passed 3/4 places packed with live music and people pouring outside.
If you're an outdoorsman you can't get much better

As far as outdoors, Lake Charles is about as good as it gets. Sabine, Lacassine and Toledo Bend are all within driving distance. You can fish the river, numerous bayous, Lake Charles, Prien Lake, there's a good bit as far as waterborne activities are concerned

Lafayette is the better city, but traffic should not be one of the reasons why lol

another good thing about LC is that its a quick 2 hour drive to Houston.

Hunting and freshwater fishing Shreveport for sure.

Lake Charles is closer to Houston than Shreveport is to Dallas.

Shreveport for me. I bass fish, run lines, and hunt everything. There's prime WMAs, the river, and beautiful lakes all just minutes from town.

Lake Charles, hands down based on qualifiers.
2 to 2 1/2 hours to Houston (Astros)
Saltwater and freshwater fishing, deer, turkey, and duck hunting all within an hour to an hour and a half drive.
And fwiw, I grew up in Lake Charles and live in the Lafayette area now. Anywhere within driving distance of Laffy is within driving distance of Lake Charles, and most of that is only good for hunting.
You can fish year round (only have 5 or 6 months of hunting), and Lake Charles is much better fishing. Toledo Bend, Lacassine NWR, and Henderson are all within an hour and a half drive or less, and the saltwater fishing is WAY better in Big Lake than Vermilion Bay.
Shreveport can't even remotely compete in this category.

The deer hunting would probably have to go to Shreveport but lake charles is one hour closer to real deer hunting in Texas than lafayette
