Should I get the C6 Z06 or hopped up Camaro?

I'm thinking about getting a car for weekends and a track car occasionally.

Either an '05+ Z06 for $20-25k or buying an older model Camaro for $3-7k and putting $5-6k in the car as upgrades.

I know I'd prefer the vette, but I also like the idea of having around half the cash in the Camaro. I worry about the Camaro becoming more of a money pit in the long run than the Corvette.

I'm curious what the OT's thoughts are on this.

Anyone have any experience with this?

The C6 Z06 is an exponentially better car than any F body. F bodies suck to drive after driving anything made in the last decade.

Get a '98-'02 Camaro Z-28 or SS. The LS1 has a shite ton of aftermarket parts for it and it's bulletproof.

How old of a Camaro are you looking at?

I looked at a 93 Z28 today. If I went that route, I would prefer a later model with the LS1.

I had a 99 LS1 (T/A) and loved it. Z06s are sweet and you get higher quality driving experience and HP per dollar.

Finding an LS1 F body that hasn't been beat to shite is going to be pretty hard. And even if you do, it's still going to have that ratty interior compared to the much better finished in the C6 Corvette.

Maybe if you carshop on Craigslist, but there are plenty of nice F-bodies for sale if you know where to look.

I had 2000 SS Camaro a few years back with a stroked 383 LS6 that was making 615rwhp with countless suspension upgrades. Car was a beast in a straight line, but I'd take a stock Z06 over that if you're planning on doing any road courses.

A nice F body is still an F body. And it's not that I'm a hater, I owned one. There's just no comparison if OP is even considering a C6.

I agree. The car I had was done right and only had 40,000 original miles. The interior and build quality of the C6 corvette is going to be way better overall.

This is the $10,000 issue I have. I don't want a toy that isn't enjoyable to be in unless it's pegged to the floor. I think the Z06 will be more enjoyable than the Camaro for weekend driving.

That's actually the exact route I would be taking in upgrades if I got a Camaro.

Do you care about image?

Because an older Camaro is one of the trashiest looking cars imo
