The Corvette will be more reliable, faster, and safer than an older Camaro.
Avoid the 2005 and get a 2006 or 07.

71 split bumper with a Hotchkiss suspension front and rear and a LS7 with a Tremec 6 speed. All the power you will ever want (if not there's plenty more there with small changes) and will handle better than a C6

The 383 stroker is easily pushing 375-500 hp. It's not slow by any means, especially when put in the right car.

They are pretty hard to find. The ones that I have found lately are in the 70-90k mile range.

Look on the for sale ads in Corvete Forum. Beware the mods, they are a bunch of pissy old men.
I'm sure 25K is doable, but that's gonna be a real high-mileage car. :
