The more people with the same degrees the less valuable the degree is so if the price of college went down significantly that could be an issue, but at the same time it should be more reasonable than it is, however; this only applies to public universities.

What does the job market demand? I think that plays a factor as well. Not everyone who graduates from college will get a job paying what they expect to get paid, so that should be a factor in whether someone decides its worth going to college.

I think its more complex than yes or no, college tuition should be lowered.

The cost of a college education is way out of hand. It has turned into a big business for the colleges/universities.

And universities are turning into vacation resorts.

What a noble thought, but I worked my way thru and I don't want to pay for a bunch of people who think it should be free.

Supply & demand.

No, not at all. There is no free-market working in higher education. It is all artificial.

As stated earlier in the thread, the demand is driven by the fact that loans separate the consumer from the actual cost, and the supply is overwhelming in 2016.

If higher ed was driven by true supply and demand, the cost would be significantly lower.

It shouldn't be artificially lowered or raised, but the factors that are propping it up should be addressed.

Pell Grants are the first things that need to go away. If poor people want to go to college, they can get a job & pay their way like I did.

The problem is that the rising costs of tuition and fees make working your way through college very difficult if you do not have some other assistance.

Obviously working towards earning a scholarship is one way to reduce costs. Another is to use the community college system to get through your first few years for much cheaper than doing it at a four-year institution. Unfortunately, this method can be difficult as courses do not always transfer correctly.

Should be able to get your money back if you aren't making real money after a couple years.

My buddy who did his 5th year at lsu in 2012 told me that out of state tuition is already double what it was when he was there.

Not all of us!

My education paid for itself almost immediately. My wife's will likely do the same. We didn't go to school out of state or to private universities, and we also didn't major in gender studies.

It should be on a sliding scale depending on how much you get laid.

Fricking this.

Can't tell you how many of my dumbass friend's parents didn't want them to work thru school. They felt that they should get the "college experience"

My college experience was class till 12 work till midnight and drinking/fricking till 4.

I'll graduate with no help, no debt, and I still smelled like whiskey and pussy in my 8am at least twice a week.
