Yea. Industry keeps telling Colleges of Engineering across the country that they need more

I looked up the most worthless prof I had in my 5 years and that motherfricker is making $120k.

I know that one is big. Went to school with a few people from Georgia who got instate tuition for the petroleum engineer major because it wasn't offered anywhere in Georgia.
Just seems like everybody you run into these days is an engineer.
Engineers make the world go around. Everything in your house/car or in your pocket was designed by an ENGINEER. not an artist. artist make things look pretty but not functional.

I hope you weren't expecting a good open discussion about this

My thoughts are TAF pays for all athletic stuff and gives $$$ to the school. Also good athletics mean more out of state students wanting to go to LSU. I am a little concerned with the cuts but that is a result of our retarded state constitution and the fact that we are wasting $$$ on the HBCU's.

I would prefer the focus be on education and finding graduates jobs and internships more than sports.
The university is focused on education except when professors want to bitch about how much the athletic department makes.
Students need to be go-getters to get internships and jobs. If they need a prof to find them a job because they can't,that doesn't sound like a good employee. The jobs fair that's held every year at campus does a pretty good job connecting students and business.

Who's focus? Again the University itself has very little to do with the athletics and ZERO to do with its funding.
Lets make this simple for the OP. Go to the state with your bitching. Leave the athletic department out of it since all the do for the university itself is positive.

LSU also needs a better alumni support system that includes lsu emails for alums.

I'm not even talking about professors, its admin and support staff that needs to be cut

Wasn't the funding to higher education cut because its part of a very small number of "discretionary spending" in the state budget? You have to fix the state constitution before you can fix that problem.
I will say that while I care little for an art department, it most likely costs exponentially less to run than say business or engineering, and still brings students to the school. Maybe we can cut scholarships for those areas that have little to no value in the real world.

exactly bitching about sports spending is wrong in the case of LSU. Now other schools might have a point because they take state funds for athletics. The teachers at LSU that don't like their funding need to target the small schools that eat away at the budget. Those are the ones responsible for the academic problems. The other option is for the struggling majors to make something of themselves and become useful like engineering and business.

I can put my students in a fricking barn. If the prof is good he can teach anywhere in any environment.

I think Les Miles, the athletic department and TAF should "share the wealth" with the academic department. Stop being so greedy.
They do. Stop being so ignorant

I might be wrong, but isn't TAF and the Athletic Department the largest donors to the Academic side of LSU??
