Both of mine have happened on I-10 crossing Mississippi.

1. 2007, heading east-bound, I'm watching ahead and all hell starts breaking loose. People jamming to a stop on an overpass, one car spinning or something, somehow, I managed get between four lanes of traffic on a three lane stretch, and went through doing at least 60...don't know what happened, don't know who was at fault, but I got through straddling the yellow lines. Was praying my Rosary as I was driving.

2. Two months ago, heading home from Biloxi on a bright Saturday noon.
I'm doing about 80 in the left lane, and a Audi comes up behind me, wanting to do 90. I'm seeing debris on the road, so I get over one lane, just as I see a porcelain lavatory sitting dead center in the left lane.

He punches it as he gets past me, and BOOOOOOOOM he hits the lavatory. Again, I'm straddling the center and right lane because there were already pieces on the road before he hit it. On the right shoulder is a loaded pick-up and its passengers waiting to pick up all the crap they dropped. I don't KNOW their nationality to be certain, but I'm willing to bet they use tortillas in their regular diet.

Audi hit that thing at 90, and he just turned his wheel to the shoulder.

I need to avoid Mississippi, any more.

Sheet of plywood flew out the back of a truck about 100feet in the air like a kite.

Watched that fricker trying to decide where it was going and what to do.

Jammed on the brakes and it landed flat about 10ft in front of my car and I rolled over it.

Second one... right after I got my first car with anti-lock brakes.

Car started to pull out in front of me in Prairieville, got halfway out and stopped when they realized I was there. I mashed the brake, swerved around them and back to my lane to avoid a head on.

Would never have made that without ABS.

Had to stop to calm my wife down because she was hysterical.

"We almost got in wreck!!!"

"But we didn't so calm the frick down"

A couple of months ago it was raining bad, and I was coming from I-10 and a suburban coming from 610 where doing roughly the same speed at the merge.

The suburban sped up to get ovr for Bonnabel and almost hit a car, so he jerked left and almost hit another car and overcorrected and went into a series of doughnuts. At this time I was accelerating in the left lane, and saw him spinning and locked up my brakes.
I came to a stop about four feet from his side and was almost rear ended. Luckily no accident happened and all cars drove off.

(Non Interstate) Back in college a group of us decided to drive out to Destin for Spring Break 4 cars deep late at night. I'm the 2nd car in the pack. Around 4am on a 2 lane highway somewhere in the Destin area, the lead car starts to drift into on coming traffic while garbage truck was coming down the opposite way around 40mph. We all thought we were about to watch our friends die and all we could do was slow down to not get caught in the collateral damage. The other driver came back into the lane and had no idea he almost got into an accident.

Driving in left lane at I-10 while coming up to the 610 split. Started working my way to the right while a truck in the right lane started working his way left. He felt I cut him off and proceeded to try and chase me down while swerving at me. He would occasionally jump in front and jam his brakes forcing me onto the shoulder to get around. Still don't know how but I did manage to get him to clip the wall at the Met Rd exit.

Not an interstate, but mine happened on 610 West of Austin. My roommate and I had been patronizing Carlos and Charlies on Lake Travis. We had had a couple, but I was ok to drive. Still, I was driving the speed limit and 10-and-2ing it in the right line. It's a pretty wide highway. We were approaching the Mansfield Dam bridge when I noticed some headlights in my rearview mirror. I checked to make sure I wasn't speeding--I wasn't and kept on driving. The lights began to get closer and closer. I was doing 60 and this car was gaining on us like nobody's business. Had to be doing well over 100 as fast as he was making up ground.

He kept speeding up, closer and closer, until I was sure he was about to run right up my arse and send us spinning. At the last minute, I changed into the left lane to avoid a collision. He did the same(I guess he was trying to be a badass and was going to pass me at the very last minute possible). So we both got in the left lane, he jerked right to avoid me, and his silver Ferrari flipped about 5 times down the dam bridge road.

It looked horrible. I thought someone must have died for sure. We stopped and walked up to the car, and saw somebody crawl out of the passenger side window. "Is the driver, ok?" we shouted. "Huh?" he replied still dazed. "Your buddy--the driver--is he alright? Do we need to call an ambulance?" "No, it's just me."

He appeared to be fine. Just then a car full of his friends showed up and started cussing him out for driving so shite-hammered. We tiptoed back to our cars during the commotion and headed home. I still don't know how somebody didn't die.
