I don't get all the hate for new Orleans. Most major cities are more disgusting and trashier.

Major cities in Africa maybe. Not in the western world.

The loser of this contest is determined by which one has the most bums, piss, and vomit in its streets. I've not been to SF enough recently to get a good measure, but in the past I would say NOLA was losing. SF had more bums, but they had a little class and original pitches. SF also had public toilets that kept a lot of piss out of the gutters.

I think a great city should be dirty and grungy. Otherwise, live in the burbs.

San Francisco's biggest problem to me is the techie gentrification of it. It's losing a lot of it's soul and becoming a playground for young, rich tech workers.

SF is not the only one

Hmmmm, my two favorite cities. I always seem to find more in common between the two: two of the smaller "big cities", port towns, great food, great music, great character and culture, you find many transplants of each city in the other, both cities can be dirty...The way I see it, it's New Orleans and San Francisco, then all other U.S. cities can file in behind them.

My bay area slam piece and I we're discussion this very issue last night, while SF may be a little bit better off financially, they have their share of creeps/wierdos

If I had to choose, I'd choose nola just because I'm biased and wouldn't like living in the other side of the country with the exception of the weather that comes with it.

I find it hard to believe any cities is dirtier than NO on a regular basis.

C-Ray said if you visit Philly you'll appreciate how clean New Orleans really is.

Chicago is pretty dang dirty too (at least the air). You can see the dirty air when you're approaching on the interstate.

Tell us about the inordinate amount of pushy and aggressive beggars on the sidewalks in SF?
