In Houma we don't have a lot of choice. Cannattas, wal marks, or nasty Rouses. Rouses always has short dated milk and nasty beef. Cannatta's is much better but wal mart put in a neighborhood store right next door. Hope they survive

while we're talking grocery stores....is the Albertsons on essen going down?

It has gone to shite. Sad really... they don't even have hand baskets anymore, I assume because people kept stealing them. There are never enough employees working the registers, so the lines are always obnoxious. It's annoying, that's the closest store to me.

ETA: Last week my wife bought some chicken thighs from that Albertson's, that were marked as sell by Aug. 2nd... they were totally rancid by July 31st.

Ironically, this has caused me to go out of my way to shop at the Drusilla Rouses more often. It's definitely better than the Albertson's.

The store manager of the Drusilla store lost his job last week. Guess they blamed all of this on him.

Simultaneous problems at damn near every former LeBlanc's location bought by Rouse's mean that it is highly unlikely to be the store manager's fault.

Whatever is going on appears to be systemic in nature across the BR-area stores.

Have you tried Alexander's Highland Market?

Nice store, but those aisles sure are narrow.

They should hire back everyone that ran the LeBlanc's store and switch their suppliers back to AG in Baton Rouge.

Basically go back to being LeBlanc's.

I was a regular at Drusilla Leblanc's until the sellout. There's is just something bout how Rouses does things that I dont like. Calvin's @ Bocage and Robert on Highland get 95% of my business now.

I wish Calvin's invested more into their beer selection though. Their prices are competitive for a small family run store and have decent family dinners.

Terrific. That's the only place I buy it at now. Calvin's is honestly the best of them all. Never a line, friendly people, quality product

Pretty good, they have good prices and weekly specials. They make their own sausage and specialty meats.

It's a nice but smaller store. Lots of prepared foods and a solid wine selection. Good deli and produce. Try the Chicken Salad.

Buy Calvins broaster chicken. They are small rotisserie and about a buck more than others but man they are good.

And if you tell him what beer you want he'll start getting it. I tell him but others need to as well.
