My parents hate the Rouses in Zachary.

Say what you want, if you don't have access to a packing house, Sams has the best meat and prices in Baton Rouge.

We put up a side of beef every 6 months from a north Louisiana rancher.....all grain fed....and butchered and cut and wrapped by McCain Farms in Calhoun.

And I prefer Sam's beef to Costco all day long. If I'm looking for organic unicorn butter, I go to Costco, ribeye's are all Sam's. The hot dogs and yoga pant views are better at Costco though.

They don't buy from AG because they got booted out by the other original families that started AG. They wanted another tier added to the agreed to pricing tiers just for them (Rouses). When the others (Matherne, Calandro, LeBlanc, Crifasi) refused, old man Rouse left in a huff, sued, and has been on a vendetta ever since to put all those families out of business. The Matherne's on Bluebonnet was a big plum because now they will have a store literally in the front yard of the AG distribution center. A big FU to the others.

That isn't what the link you posted reflects.

It's kind of the same way in Zachary after they took over that LeBlanc's. It's almost impossible to find decent produce. It's all rotten or old looking.

The salad section absolutely sucks arse. I have to dig to find lettuce that isn't spoiled. Leblanc's would always have plenty of checkout lines open during busy times but that has changed. My rule for grocery shopping is it shouldn't take me longer to checkout than it does to do my shopping.

A better FU will be when they go out of business because of the very reasons cited in this thread - shitty meat, produce, and no real reason to go there over the competition. AG will love it!

Try the grocery pickup at Wal Mart if you are near the one on Siegen.

AG is also opening a store on Lockhart/Highway 16 in Denham. Hopefully the next step is a competitor in Zachary.

Leblanc's also ALWAYS had people bagging groceries. Rouse's seems satisfied just letting one person scan AND bag.

I agree @Lsufan1981. I typically have to make an extra trip to Premier Produce after I leave because all of the shite I need at Rouses is rotten or in the process of getting there.

Rouses in Ascension parish are hot garbage, they took some great family neighborhood grocery stores and turned them to shite. My family has shopped at Leblanc's Payless for as long as I can remember and I'm 48. When I got married I refused to let my wife buy grocery anywhere other than Leblanc's because I was not eating the shite produce and meat from who knows where, that they sell at Walmart. My wife went to Rouses in Prairieville when it switched over and she came back with half of the stuff she had on the list. I asked her where was everything else and she said everything she picked up was passed the sell by date. So she waited 2-3 weeks and tried going back again and the same thing the majority of the items are out of date so she said screw it and hasn't gone back. We now go to Harvest in Dutchtown or Ralph's by Pelican Point.

We will never shop at another Rouses.

I'm not getting all of this hate. This is a Louisiana, family owned company. Y'all want a Kroger instead? Gimme Louisiana local all day.

I'm tired of the haterade. These guys are opening more stores all around us. They aren't going anywhere. We don't need another Wal Mart.

Marcy has three posts and all are defending Rouses. She either needs to show her tits or get back to work and clean out all the rotten meat and produce from the shelves.

They suck. And they expanded into Baton Rouge by buying a good, local company.
