Personally do not agree with this.

Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and Old Town, all north of River North / the Loop, are three neighborhoods that are very fun.

West of the interstate, Wicker Park and West Loop are good areas with a mix of affordable and high-rise housing. A lot of fun patio bars.

That being said, I don't really know anything about Chicago south of the Loop, north/west of Wicker Park, and north of Lakeview.

I was in graduate school at Loyola University Chicago over the past couple years, so I was able to become accustomed to Rogers Park (far north side) a little bit.

I am pretty boring and not into the nightlife or partying...so this is mostly based on scenery in and around the city. I need to travel to the Northeast it looks like.

Lincoln Park and lake view are included in my "great parts of Chicago" map.

Near west has gotten better but the infrastructure still sucks. Same for the near south - cool buildings and condos but no grocery stores and kind of too pothole-y and New Jersey-y for me.

But in the Loop? Especially this spot at the foot of Trump Tower? This is maybe my favorite square mile in all of America with the possible exception of the GG Bridge in SF and anywhere around Central Park in Manhattan

I can see your point in regard to areas just south of the Loop.

In terms of that picture, I will agree with you on that. You get some pretty spectacular vantage points along the river.

I'm very frank about Atlanta's shortcomings. I don't think it is particularly interesting but it is a growing major city that offers a lot for people at all points in life. Urbanization is helping fill out some of the culture void in places like Atlanta and Dallas, and I think you have more and more young people deciding that they can thrive in core areas and grow into suburban or intown neighborhood life as a result.

I live in the Bay Area. I am serious. I did over look the "major city" part in regards to South Lake, but it is an incredible place that offers a ton of amenities at a very reasonable cost of living.

This is just clearly wrong. There's no way you can say that Philly is a better city than NYC. The terrorists will never attack Philadelphia because they know that no one gives a shite and that the Eagle fans may have had it coming.

I enjoy the historical aspect/Museums of many of the cities I visit, one of the reasons DC is high on my list. With that said, I have only had 2 visits to NYC and neither time did I come away impressed. Its just not for me.
