To the poster shitting on Buffalo/Western NY - it’s actually a pretty amazing place with amazing people.
Like another poster mentioned, this is just like someone on the gulf coast riding out a Cat 5 and then trying to drive to Dollar General in it. shite happens. Nothing the city/region could’ve done differently to prep for a storm that is an extreme outlier.

If my truck gets stuck in a snowbank ( I have experience driving in the snow) I'm getting out and walking .

It's tragic for their survivors. But it's also tragic for the ones who died shoveling snow and operativn their snow blowers. Again, who benifits that one driveway is shoveled? The daily weather forecaston Accuweather shows Buffalo temperatures for the next three days not going below 32F
Thats three days of melting. So, do you shovel now or wait 23 hours for Nature to do it for you?

I'm in NOVA for the holidays and I can tell you that Friday and Saturday were brutal here with no snow and I know that Buffalo had it much worse. Those people up there went through hell and fortunately it looks like their weather begins to improve tomorrow.
