Your dedication to driving your head through that brick wall is pretty damn impressive.

BUT the furnace is still dependent on some electrical mechanisms so I am SOL when the power goes out.

You don't have one of these?
I think he was probably talking about the air handler, not the igniter.
That being said, most modern furnaces do have electronic ignition. And I imagine watching someone try to light an electronic ignition furnace with a Bic lighter would be entertaining (or terrifying, if it goes wrong).

Small 120v generator will run an air handler and still actuate the solenoid that opens to feed gas to your furnace.
So if at the very least you could power a light and your air handler with even a small 15 amp generator.

They only plan on 1 in 100 Americans owning their own vehicle.
That hasn’t been the case since early 1900s when cars were a new concept
It’s not feasible here. This country is too big and spread out to do massive levels of ride sharing outside of big cities

I get (30) people dying in a freak Southern snow storm, but in Buffalo?
Only 9.6% of the deaths were in cars. 3/31. The majority of deaths were probably homeless people. 17/31 were outside.
It also doesn’t say if they were found dead from being stuck in cars or dead from traffic accidents due to blizzard conditions. The thread title could use some work but that’s a run of the mill stout thread these days.

If you've never been in a snowstorm or a noreaster, you really can't understand it. Different beast altogether. Front page of the Daily Mail right now is about a mentally disabled man who got caught outside in it. He's lucky somebody saw him.

I’d take the summer heat and the bugs over that shite. I’ve spent enough time in Buffalo to know that it’s not worth dealing with that horrific weather.
There’s no where in this country you can go without the potential for horrific weather. Southeast? Hurricanes and Tornadoes. Northeast? Blizzards. Midwest? Tornadoes. West? Earthquakes and Wild Fires.
Severe weather is a part of life every where.

Surprising a city like Buffalo wasn’t better equipped to deal with blizzard conditions, but it was a freak storm.
Have you seen the pictures to actually how much snow fell? Go look up Buffalo bills cars in snow from a couple days ago. There’s 6 feet of snow on top of cars.
This is the equivalent to Baton Rouge flood 2016.

EV's don't produce electricty.
EVs do produce a small amount of electricity from capturing energy from the braking system, same as hybrids.
It's not much though...

nothing a little selfless backfeeding can't fix the distribution issues of electricty in that picture.
