However, writing LOL on the ticket and being a dick about it isn't necessary. I would have entered a $20 tip into the computer anyway. See if those frickers would challenge it.

I don't think committing credit card fraud is a good way of going about it.

Anyone who doesn't tip accordingly is willfully acknowledging they are ok with making someone bring them their food and drinks for free.
what are you talking about? They are getting paid by their employer.

Not my problem that the server accepts job at a business where the boss expects the genorosity of others to subsidize his payroll obligations.

When I was 19 or so I waited tables and Logans Roadhouse and some awful career waitress got busted doing this. Apparently, she had 3 jobs at different restaurants and ripped off thousands before getting busted. I'm pretty sure she went to jail for this.

I just don't see why restaurants won't pay their employees a respectable hourly wage and throw out tipping all together.
Exactly. It's bullshite that customers are pressured into paying a company's employees a living wage instead of the company itself.

So it seems like I wouldn't be caught.

Knowing that the server is making $9, 10 an hour I'll be willing to give them a few bucks extra based on service. This is what I do when I travel Europe.

It's kind of silly having to pay an extra 15-30% (pending on how you tip) for food and drinks that are already marked up well over 50%.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an extremely generous tipper usually 20%+ but it should not be the customers responsibility to pay the server.

I feel bad for the waitress because it is the kitchen's fault, but that is the hazard of depending on others.

The waitress shoulf let the kitchen know they cost her $25.

Went to Seattle where they have all been bumped up to $15/hour.

Service industry still expected a 20% tip.

That's pretty shitty if they get upset for not getting a 20% tip.

Considering the vast majority of people who rely on tips as income aren't paying their share of taxes (under reporting tips by 75-80% on average) -- who gives a frick?

Almost as bad as tipping based on the cost of food is tipping based on how long it takes for the food to arrive. The waitress doesn't cook your food for you.

Well, to be fair, they're not up to $15 yet. It's phasing in over a few years (I think it's around $11 now). Still pisses me off. Servers around here make bank and are some of the shittiest servers in the country.

At $15/hour they shouldn't get a tip...period. Waiting tables should never be a career.

Ah, thanks for the info. Service wasn't terrible, but definitely not some great improvement upon what is expected. Especially knowing how much is being paid.

I don't have a problem with an underemployed person waiting tables a few nights a week to supplement their income because I understand it's expensive to live in the city. The career servers are the worse. I've worked in fine dine restaurants at places with teams and the "captains" are the most entitled people out there. Generally, they are career waiters and they feel they are entitled to the best tables and can force you to do anything because they have seniority. These people are generally uneducated and don't live within there means as well.

$112 for 8 people is pretty good. I guess no one drank.

I know a guy who goes there every weekend. Just asked if it was him. It wasn't. Not a cool story, bro.

I've seen him double the bill for a tip on several occasions elsewhere, so I'm sure that waitress does just fine if she works weekends.
