I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.
Mr. Pink is still correct 23 years later.

$112 for 8 people at a bar & grill?
That's pretty damn cheap
That's what I was thinking. Probably just lunch and 8 waters with extra lemons and sugar packets.

Well obviously it wasn't a group of Canoes...

Depends on what was ordered.
A well-done steak will push all tickets at the table back.
Besides, you should expect 25-35 minute times at sit down dinners anyway.

Yep. People are idiots
What if the tips are collected and split with the kitchen staff?
Running a restaurant is really a team effort. Also, the tip is proportional to the value of the ticket. Waiting over an hour for your food is unacceptable and arguably diminishes the true value of your meal.

this is the restaurant's fault. Everybody knows that Party of 6 or more includes 18% automatic tip.

Who cares. The american tipping culture is ridiculous anyways.

I worked a long time as a server.
I'm a GREAT tipper. Heck, I recently left $15 on a $17 check.
That being said, if I waited an hour for my food the server isn't getting a dime and she can take it up with the kitchen for costing her a tip.

A well done steak should have you escorted out the restaurant

Tips aren't automatic.
Sucks to suck.
As a former server, I agree.
However, writing LOL on the ticket and being a dick about it isn't necessary. I would have entered a $20 tip into the computer anyway. See if those frickers would challenge it.

Because there's thousands of message boards that need an endless supply of shite to talk about every day?

Anyone who doesn't tip accordingly is willfully acknowledging they are ok with making someone bring them their food and drinks for free. No matter what you think about the tipping policy in America, this makes you a piece of trash and you should shouldn't be allowed in public.

I just don't see why restaurants won't pay their employees a respectable hourly wage and throw out tipping all together. From all the place i've traveled, and it's been a bunch, US the the only country where servers and bartenders money is based on tips.
