Over the counter testosterone "boosters"

Do these really work? I have a circle of friends that are all getting in their mid 30's one is about to turn 40. The guy about to turn 40 thinks this shite will make him younger. I think it might work minimally for a month or so, but then I think it will hurt his natural production after that. He seems to have the other guys on the bandwagon too.

who is right?

any late 30-ish OT'ers using anything like this? Does it work for you? And keep this to OTC supplements, I don't care to hear about prescription or illegal shite.

re: Over the counter testosterone "boosters"
I have really low testosterone because the guys at the sawmill I work at locked me in the wood dryer one day as a joke and I absorbed near fatal doses of radiation

I tried that gas station stuff and it doesn't really work

But it gave me a ton of back hair

If you have any history of prostate cancer in your family I would strongly recommend you stay away from this type of experimentation.

Thank you. I also used this in my argument. I wasn't sure how right I was, but I thought I read that somewhere.

dude, this ain't for me. I post on the OT. I'm 32 and have the testosterone levels of a 22 year old Greek God. I bust 17 nuts a day.

I'm just looking for ammo to argue against what's turning into 5 people that think this "Ageless Male" and some other shite you can buy OTC is the fountain of youth. Also I told them if they just decrease their stomach fat by like 5-10 lbs they could increase their T levels by 50 percent......but they don't want to hear that.

it is complicated but testosterone is a risk factor for developing prostate cancer.

the data for this type of stuff will take a while to compile (esp with the supplements being new and the length of time it takes older men to develop prostate cancer being long) but..

especially if you have a family history of prostate cancer you are probably going to turn out to be significantly more likely to get prostate cancer if you are taking testosterone supplements. if there is no history of prostate cancer in your family taking testosterone supplements will probably also raise your risk but you start out in a lower risk group

re: Over the counter testosterone "boosters"
Supplements like Tribulus Territus and D-aspartic acid might give a small boost. However, all the controlled studies I've read on those ingredients show no benefit.

Pro-hormones are sold over the counter and are chemical derivatives of oral steroids. Don't think because you can buy them legally, they are safe. That isn't to say testosterone supplementation is dangerous. Testosterone replacement is a complicated issue one should discuss with their endocrinologist. A doctor will order blood tests for hormone levels before writing a prescription.
