Why does it have a salvaged title? Can it be insured? Do you ever plan to resell it? Is it at a large discount?
The answer to the question really depends on the answer to those.

Back in the day we used to massage the rivets out very carefully and remove the plate then put a new one on

I hear ya!
Don't know if I should keep it in here but I don't know anything when I comes to motors and what years were good with certain tricks and certain engines... I'm thinking about getting around a 20ft travel trailer maybe smaller closer to 14ft just for me but may go larger than 20 once I talk to my wife and see if she just wants to pack all them kids up in a travel trailer and come be with me... Would a v6 from a Chevy or Ford pull something that length..I know it's about weight but don't they have an average for those lengths... Just trying to get an idea.. The only truck I've owned is a Nissan hard body.. So I'm not picky when it comes to getting a truck.. I've seen some 2006 fords that look good and around 50 to 60 k miles in my price range but a couple buddies said the 4.6 I think it was weren't that good for that year.. One is hooked on Chevy and the other on dodge.. So.. Any advice in that area or should I start a new thread?

Find you a good used GM 2500 with a 6.0 gas motor and you'll be fine. I know a 1/2 ton will pull a 20' trailer but the 3/4" ton will stop it better.

My fam has probably had several rebuilt cars over the past 20 years.
It seems like there is some difference in definitions of salvage, maybe by state. I'm in MO and a salvage title means it is still wrecked and not drivable...I think might be why some places say they won't loan on it or insure it. In MO once it is repaired you take it to the Highway Patrol and basically they check it to see if the VIN or other #s trace as stolen and if they approve it, you get a title that says "Prior Salvage". That car is road ready and I've never had a problem with a loan or insurance. Never had a problem selling one either.
If it was me looking at one, I'd be more afraid of one salvaged due to flood than about anything else.

What Ag said:
Chevy w/ a 6.0 gas, 3/4 ton.
The MPG will hurt your feelings, but the motors are bulletproof. Plus, gas is cheap.
4.6/V-6 is not good for pulling, IMO, at least of the weight your talking about. keep in mind, the bigger engines get bigger brakes, cooling, etc.

x100.
It will be problem, sooner than later.
A good rule of thumb, if you suspect water damage, check the seat rails and/or seat springs. If you see rust, run away.

Too much trouble to get it registered.
It is one extra form to sign at the DMV...
Bought a camp truck with a salvaged title, paid cash so do not know about the loan part, but registration was very easy.

So much love for the gas.. I thought diesels on them big engines were better... Guess that's why I'm asking... What truck and year.. I'm needing to stay closer to or under $20000... That's why I was looking at the smaller trucks.. 6.0. That's pretty big.. So nine of the 5. Whatever fords or Chevy's or tundra?

Look for a Chevy 2500, 2005-2009. Should be able to get a gas in that price range. Do not get 4.11 gears. That info will be stamped on the door jamb sticker, IIRC.

Diesels are only better if you are gonna be hooked up and pulling all the time. The extra up front cost and higher maintenance make a gasser the better choice for occasional pulling use. The GM 6.0 gas motor is bulletproof and has plenty of torque for what you want and you should be able to find a nice low mileage unit for your budget.

RVS and Specialties in Houston. Anthony is a good guy and he'll fix you up for a good price.

One last question... What you think if I got one of those express 3500 vans with a6.0... Would that pull it the same... Cause I've gotta get one of those anyway..
