Harry... What about insurance?

I have a salvaged title vehicle. I've had it four years. The only problem I had was getting someone to insure it. State Farm is the only one I could find and they only gave me liability because they said the car has no value to them since it's been totalled

Not just no, but hell no.
Did that once with an accord se-i when I was just out of HS, ended up getting rid of it at auction and got all my money back. But the car was a piece of shite. That was in the mid 90s when salvage title vehicles were more common. Would never get another.

Sure, I've owned a sapavage title before. Someone threw salt water in the Interior and claimed water damage. Depending in what it is, you'll save a ton of cash or spend a ton of cash.

Hmm... If I get it if plan on running the tires off of it anyway.. As much as I'm back and forth to Texas from Louisiana right now.. My company only pays 75 days annually for hotel if we are forced away from home and then after that we are on our own.. So I figure instead of paying out the butt for hotel or trying to get an apartment and possibly losing my deposit just go this route.. Because we get bumped from Houston to Bloomington to kingsville ask the way to Brownsville and back sometimes in the matter of weeks or even days... So I'd figure to make good with some of the RV parks and maybe just pay by the week.. Maybe they will do that if they see I'm good for the money.. Who knows..

No.
Hard to insure, hard to finance, hard to sell-you just about can't buy it cheap enough.
Plus, you'll always be chasing weird problems and rattles.

ou better check with your insurance first, a lot of times they won't give coverage on a salvage vehicle. And good luck finding someone to finance it, it's going to be considered a bad risk investment.
When is the last Got damn time your insurance agency asked for the vehicle title? That is the only place it would show it has a salvage title.
BTW,OP cannot register a salvage title vehicle.Title has to be changed over to a reconditioned title and parts list and receipts must be notarized and submitted to the DMV along with a State Police inspection before they will give you a reconditioned title.
I saved up cash and was able to purchase a damn fine vehicle for my sons first vehicle. I paid $7400 for a 2008 GMC Sierra extra cab with 102,000 miles on the odo.
KBB valued the truck at $13,500.00
Truck had no frame /motor/transmission damage and no airbag deployment.
So. You can see where a salvage title purchase can be a great opportunity in certain circumstances.

They probably run the VIN and see that it's been totalled
They definitely know

No. They can type in the VIN number and get the full info on that vehicle. Insurance companies share that info amongst one another now on home and autos. It's just an excuse to charge people more in some instances IMO.
How do you think it all shows up on CarFax but an insurance company wouldn't know?

at you if you don't think insurance companies don't know that a totaled vehicle is totaled.

Glad it worked for you but I'm just telling you that they have a way of knowing that info. I have sold houses before and the buyers were going with a different insurance company to insure it only to find out the current owners had filed a claim previously.
Insurance companies definitely share that sort of info and know.

reconditioned title vehicle is issued a new VIN by the DMV.

A vehicle is worth about half of what it is listed for if it has a salvage title.
The only time to entertain it is when you know what the vehicle is totaled for, where/how it was fixed, and you are paying cash and never plan on trading it in. Other than that, not worth it.
